Mayor of Kingston is a riveting prison drama, chock full of intriguing characters and a solid storyline. After finishing the whole series, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 about?

Mayor of Kingstown centers on Mike McLusky, a former inmate turned local power broker between the police and criminals. As the unofficial mayor, he does everything he can to manage the warring factions in Kingstown, Michigan.

Inside and outside of the prison, McLusky attempts to facilitate change, but it all blew up in his face when it resulted in a prison riot.

After all that drama, our characters are struggling to return to a sense of normalcy and can’t accept that the riot turned their whole world upside down. Expect plenty more drama, promising plenty of twists and turns in the mix.

Has Mayor of Kingstown been renewed for season 3?

At the time of writing, Mayor of Kingstown has not been renewed for a third season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Paramount.

Generally Paramount, among other streams, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics though, as recently revealed with the shock cancellation of 1899.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.

Having said that, in this article over at Comicbook.com, there are rumblings that season 3 has already been planned out. Given the show’s popularity with both critics and audience alike, that certainly helps matters considerably.

Given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will be renewed for a third season. We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!

What we know about season 3 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point, given Paramount have not green-lit a sequel – at least not officially anyway. In the above article linked on this article, the creators have explicitly stated that: “we’ve got a big future planned for Mayor” which is good news.

As mentioned above, we predict that this will be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!

Praying that Jeremy is and will continue to heal each and every day! We just pray that Paramount Plus and Jeremy Renner Can and Will return for Season 3!!! So much more left to tell in this story. And the entire story evolves around Renner and his family. I can only pray that we get more season’s and episodes of MOK! Prayers for Renner and his entire family!   27. Mayor of Kingstown is great. I’m looking forward to season 3. I love the mystery and excitement of Mike’s life with his family, the prison, the game bangers, and the police. Please continue the story line as Mike’s life unfolds.

  28. S3 would be great. But with Renner still battling his medical issues and God only knows IF he will walk again and have both legs, let alone the recovery time it would take. I don’t see him pushing his health for another season of this show. And you can’t just write him out or you are making a totally different show. Would have loved to see it but IF it happens it won’t be with him.

  31. Really loved Mayor of Kingstown, Taylor Sheridan is a genious at story telling, BUT he seems to loose interest in his projects leaving the devoted audience in the air. WHY???? no season 3 of the prequel to Yellowstone with Tim McGraw and his wife and Sam Elliott!?!?!? He could definitely done a season 2. So many unanswered questions at the end of season 1. Sam Elliott didn’t go through his suicide attempt at the beginning of the show series so why not have him do it a 2nd time knowing he had more help to give to bringing settlers west? Tulsa King is okay…just okay. I’m hoping that if there is a season 2 of that series it moves a bit faster. So far the only reason I am drawn to watching it is Sylvester Stallone. Not the story. Taylor Sheridann needs to finish one project at a time and not leave his loyal fans waiting months!! for the next installment of his stories. And what about The Mayans??? where are we at with that? Again ! we are waiting….So far his only completed long time series is Sons of Anarchy….and am not so sure the end of the show was all that great. What do others think? I know after 7 seasons fans were probably getting bored so it was a good time to end it. I totally understand Kevin Costner wanting to get out of Yellowstone before that series is a disaster too. I look forward to Kevin’s own Civil War series.

  48. I’ve binge-watched my way through Season 1 and have almost finished 2. Though I’m not a fan of violence, this show is so different, so well-written & well-acted I am mesmerized by it. I think of Renner’s fixer role as the “Michael Clayton” for the criminal dregs. We need Season 3 and a few more.

I watch numerous shows but have never been so anxious for a week to pass so I can get lost in another episode of Mayor of Kingstown.   92. Love this show! The Mayor is a badass! We want season 3,4 and more! However it seems that TS is spread to thin with Bass Reaves, Lioness, 1923 and with the delay of the 2nd part of Yellowstone, makes you wonder whats going to get cancelled. Don’t get me wrong TS is an amazing writer. I would be very disappointed if Mayor of Kingstown gets cancelled because of all of his other shows he has planned. Wishing Jeremy Renner a full recovery. This would be the only acceptable reason for the show to be canceled.
