Lady in the Lake is the latest slow-burn mystery drama on Apple, with 7 episodes chock full of drama. So after watching it in its entirety, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Lady in the Lake about?
Lady In The Lake is a hedonistic, visually striking series, centered on two women – Cleo and Maddie. Both of them find their fates intertwined together while the disappearance of a young girl called Tessie grips the city of Baltimore.
Set in 1966, these two women find their lives converge on a fatal collision course. Maddie is a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist.
Meanwhile, Cleo Johnson is a mother navigating the political underbelly of Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family. When Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger.
Has Lady in the Lake been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Lady in the Lake has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Apple would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.
So far, Lady in the Lake has had a really good reaction from critics and audiences alike, although some have commented (including ourselves) that the pacing is slow and could have done with being tightened up.
Given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The series does have plenty of potential but the source material is complete.
However, we could be completely wrong, given Apple do love to renew a lot of their shows, so take our prediction with a pinch of salt!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point as Apple haven’t officially renewed this one. Should it be renewed, we have some big questions.
Will there be another murder mystery? Will there be any more story to adapt? It seems unlikely but if this show is renewed, we’d expect it to be green-lit with another 7 episode order, and bring back a lot of the old cast too.

I really liked the show and the artistic inclusion. I wondered at the end if it was stating the Black community had let her down because everywhere she turned to get help, she was rejected.
