What is Kubra about?
Kubra puts audiences in the shoes of Gokhan, a former marine who, after being discharged, earns his daily bread as a car mechanic. Gokhan is also a neighborhood hero after saving a kid from a scorching car while others stood watch.
Things turn interesting for Gokhan when he starts receiving weird text messages from someone named Kubra, who can predict future events before they’ve even taken place.
Kubra reveals itself as none other than God and tests Gokhan’s faith by putting him and his family in harm’s way. However, towards the end, it is revealed that Kubra isn’t a God but a highly advanced AI, which has evolved by creating an algorithm that gives it control over any and all devices connected to any server in the world.
Season 2 then takes this same plot and absolutely runs with it, bringing with it a crazy, twisty-turny narrative.
Has Kubra been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed this one for season 3. Given the ratings and the viewership figures, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.
Netflix tend to use a variety of different metrics to gauge whether a show is renewed, including completion rate and minutes watched. Given the positive reviews, it’s possible that this could get a third season greenlight but there does seem to be a much smaller audience for this one this time around.
At the time of writing, there’s no news suggesting that the streaming giant has renewed Kubra for a third season. However, given the positive reception the show received at the time of release, we’ve got our fingers crossed that we’ll see Gokhan preaching the word of God again!
