What is Kalki 2898 AD about?
Kalki 2898 AD narrates the story of a city named Kasi that has gone into ruins, 800+ years after the present time. An evil ruler like Supreme Yaksin takes over the world to leave the poor in ruins while the rich enjoy the luxuries of the new world. In this evil world, the people who still believe in God are hoping for a miracle in the form of a reincarnation of Lord Krishna.
Meanwhile, an ancient warrior named Ashwattama wakes up from hibernation after thousands of years to protect the unborn child that could be the reincarnation of the lord as evil forces try to kill the child.

Will there be a sequel to Kalki 2898 AD?
If you, like us, sat through the end of the film, you know that Kalki 2989 AD ends with a cliffhanger and a “To Be Continued” note. Based on this ending, we know for a fact that Kalki 2989 AD will be renewed for a second part.
There is also a direct hint from the filmmaker – Kalki 2989 AD who reveals his interest in trying to expand the Kalki Cinematic Universe. In terms of a release date, expect around a year turn-around or more for the sequel of this film. So, we may as well expect Kalki 2 to be released in 2025 or later. We will be sure to keep this page updated once the makers announce a release date for the sequel.
What could happen in Kalki 2898 AD 2?
From the way things end in Kalki 2989 AD, Bhairave kidnaps SUM-80 to take her to Supreme Yaksin himself with the hope of getting a chance to live inside the complex. It is also clear that Bhairava possesses an aura that resembles that of the warrior Karna. We can expect Karna to return and he can go back to helping his old friend – Ahswattama.
From the ending, it is also clear that Supreme Yaksin is back to being his older self. Now, Yaksin could try to hunt SUM-80 down to find the powerful serum from her unborn child. This could all also change if SUM-80 ends up delivering the baby before Bhairava can take her to Yaksin. This leaves hope for the reincarnation of Krishna to protect the humans from Yaksin.
