Renewed Or Cancelled?
Hierarchy is the latest Netflix K-drama, trying to blend what made Elite so endearing in with classic Korean storytelling tropes. It’s definitely been quite the rollercoaster ride over the 7 episodes. So after watching it in its entirety, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Hierarchy about?
Hierarchy is the latest Netflix K-drama, this time revolving around another hierarchical school of the rich and poor. Here, the top 0.01% of students control law and order at Jooshin High School.
However, all of this changes when a secretive transfer student calls Kang Ha shows up and immediately disrupts the established order. He’s here for an ulterior motive and it may or may not be linked with a hit and run incident that took the life of a scholarship student earlier in the year…
Has Hierarchy been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Hierarchy has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.
So far, Hierarchy has had a pretty mixed reaction from critics and audiences alike, with some commenting on the romance but largely lamenting the writing, which is pretty stale, all things considered.
Given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The series does have plenty of potential but K-dramas don’t tend to get greenlit for second seasons unless they’re super popular.
The ending is also quite conclusive to be honest , even with that cliffhanger involving Jae-i. The rest of the characters all get a good send-off.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point as Netflix haven’t officially renewed this one. Should it be renewed, we’d imagine that it’ll be commissioned with another 7 episode order and we’ll either continue following Jae-i as the lead, heading back to school, or we’ll be following a new set of characters. However, this does seem very unlikely.
