Has Heartbeat been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Heartbeat is the latest romantic comedy in the K-drama universe — but with vampires! Starring Taecyeon and Won Ji-an as the leads, it’s full of funny escapades, reincarnations, and an exceedingly fun enemies-to-lover romance. Although, the ending of this one has stirred up hard feelings.

If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Heartbeat Season 1 about?

The K-drama follows Joo In-hae, a cold-mannered woman who inherits an old building after her father’s death. When she finds a coffin in the basement, her curiosity gets the better of her and she opens it to find Seon Woo-hyul, a vampire.

Unfortunately, Woo-hyul was trying to transform into a human being but his plans are foiled by In-hae, who opens the coffin just one day before the transformation would be complete. The two end up being forced to live in the same house. Does In-hae’s cold heart warm up to Woo-hyul?

Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji-an portray Woo-hyul and In-hae respectively and seem to be poles apart but end up getting drawn to each other. The rest of the cast includes Park Kang-hyun, Yoon So-hee, Go Gyu-pil, and Yoon Byung-hee.

We have extensive coverage of Heartbeat across the site including recaps for every episode. You can find those HERE!

Has Heartbeat been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Heartbeat has not been renewed for season 2.

Seeing as the show wraps up with a fairly open ending, there is scope for a season 2. However, only the most popular Korean dramas end up getting renewed for another season. And even then, there needs to be ample potential for a new storyline. These factors lead us to predict that the series will not be renewed for a second season.

We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given that most Korean dramas are reserved for one season, it’s rare to find these sorts of shows renewed.

The conclusion of Heartbeat Season 1 does have some vagueness to it as In-hae sees a vision of Woo-hyeol, but we never get a confirmation on whether it is her imagination or not. The full-circle nature of the finale also leaves In-hae in the same position Woo-hyeol had been in the first episode. Should there be a season 2, we would probably see her take on the role of the person who is waiting for their loved one to return.

As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!

  1. They should have had him waking up after the one remaining day human… that would have worked…. I HATE watching Taecyeon die… Even in Vincenzo… it killed me… I hope for a season 2, but I know it’s doubtful 😞

  2. Please, please let there be a second season. I loved this show, until the end. Now I’m just depressed about it. So much potential for another season. Many open ends that could make for a beautiful season two story. There are a huge group of fans that couldn’t take this ending. Don’t leave heartbeat a heartbreak for us.

  3. I really enjoyed watching HeartBeat. The entire cast was wonderful and the storylines were clever. I hope that the series receives a second season. I look forward to watching more Korean series on Prime.

  4. Its a wonderful movie, the ending itself almost give me a heart attack, initially I don’t want Seon to leave in hae, when i saw it him appeared again, I find it difficult to just accept that there won’t be season two, please help us out.
    We need it

    Good work

  5. Please give us season 2!!! The ending left me unsatisfied. I have a feeling the ambiguous ending was intended to keep us wanting more. The acting, directing, writing was top notch, held my attention, never boring. Please have mercy, give us season 2!!!!!

  6. Loved this show and in that statement I include all the cast. Please add a season 2 to tie up the loose ends.!
Definitely not the ending I was waiting for . A second season has so much potential.

  7. Waiting for season 2. I think that the ending is not yet finished. KDramas always makes my heart melt

  8. I really enjoyed this movie, there has to be a season 2. Being an American black lady who loves drama movies please don’t leave me hanging. The ending really need closure. I need a season 2. Love the cast, but the lead lady looks just wasn’t the look for both men to want her. I’ve watched this movie 4 times and loved it every time. .

  9. The ending leaves you confused and unsure of what is happening. Super disappointed and sad it’s the last episode;( cast did a great job. Keep up the hard work guys 👍. You will be missed in this kdrama.

  10. Loved the show but what I didn’t like-the female lead -her looks and personality. They made her look homely, gawky, in both wardrobe ( dull, masculine) and hair style (too long, hanging) This matched the female character’s personality- bossy,snarnly- wanting me to say, it’s really not your house!
Director, if this is the character of the leading lady, at least have your wardrobe and hairstylist, make her look attractive enough that both men can realistically fall for her!

  11. For me the ending is not yet finish and still hanging up whether Mr.Seon is still alive or not. it is better to have a season 2.
