What is Goodbye Earth Season 1 about?
Goodbye Earth tells the heartwarming yet unique story of the people of a little fictional town known as Wooongcheon in South Korea. They only have 200 days to leave as an asteroid is set to destroy Earth.
Among the townspeople is Se-hyuk, an intelligent, self-independent school teacher whose only desire is to save the kids. She is engaged to Yoon-sang, a talented scientist who flies back into the country to be with her. Together with Sung-jae, a Catholic assistant priest, and Kang In-ah, a military captain, the four friends try to stay alive until the ill-fated asteroid hits.

Has Goodbye Earth been renewed for Season 2?
Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to announce a new season, and we are not holding our breath. The talent in this show is immense, and they are probably working on other projects. As for Yoo Ah-in, he is currently dealing with a serious scandal. If we get a season, it is unlikely he will reprise his role as Yoon-sang.
As much as K-dramas have been shaking things up with different shows such as Flex X Cop, Taxi Driver and Sweet Home getting multiple seasons, it is doubtful that Goodbye Earth will have a second season. Nonetheless, Netflix is known to make unexpected decisions, so who knows?
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. However, we’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about Season 2 so far:
Most viewers will admit that the ending fell short and was highly unsatisfactory. After watching 12 episodes, the show ends with a cliffhanger. While we appreciate a good, ambiguous ending, this one was straight-up disappointing.
If Netflix greenlits a second season, we can hope to see the fate of Yoon-sang, Se-kyung and the people of Woongcheon. The show ended with only a few days left before the asteroid hit, but what kept us intrigued till the last moment was not the asteroid attack. It was the stories of the people of Woongcheon to survive against all odds. It feels like we were robbed of a good ending. Fingers crossed, we get a better ending in the next one.
It might be a good idea for Netflix to give us at least a four-part season 2. What do you think?
