What is A Gentleman In Moscow about?

Set in 1920’s Russia, A Gentleman In Moscow centers on Count Alexander Rostov, who’s sentenced to life imprisonment at a grand Moscow hotel called the Metropol. Contending with allies and foes alike, an unlikely source of inspiration comes in the form of 9-year-old Nina. Her unexpected friendship changes Rostov’s life forever.

Has A Gentleman In Moscow been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, A Gentleman In Moscow has not been renewed for season 2.

Generally Paramount would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.

So far, A Gentleman In Moscow has had a pretty lukewarm reaction from critics and audiences alike, with some really enjoying the drama and others disliking the casting and the slow storytelling.

Given the way this show is set up as a mini-series, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The series does have plenty of potential but we also know that a lot of studios are tightening their purses this year, given the knock-on effect of the recent strikes.

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point as Paramount haven’t officially renewed this one. Should it be renewed, we’d imagine that the story will pick up past the source material but given this one is based on a book with a definitive ending, that does seem like a long-shot that this will be renewed.

  1. This is the only series since Sons of Anarchy that I have watched as each episode came out! Ususally I’ll wait until the end of a season or two so I can watch at my own pace. Loved the way this story was told and the rich tapestry it wove of thriving humanity in the drab backdrop of a socialist cesspool. Second season please!

  5. Season 2, 3 and 4 please! Excellent casting and acting. Set design brilliant. Poignant and touching.

  6. We have thoroughly enjoyed the story as it weaves the various characters into the historical context of Russian revolution. I would hope that there will be a season 2.

  13. Gentleman in Moscow is brilliant! Almost exclusively taking place in 1 hotel, the story arc is stunning, depending on excellent acting, powerful and touching writing, along with a powerful look at the horror of communism, at which America should take a good, hard look!
    Renew for season 2! It’s a series which deserves amply to be continued! A very unique, scintillating subject never treated with such creativity and provocative ideas!!! This stands alone as a worthy subject and a worthy treatment!!! Bravo!
