Will there be an Alan Wake 3? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

Alan Wake 3

Alan Wake 2 takes the critically acclaimed formula of the first game and adds an adrenaline burst of stunning presentation and murder mystery investigative work. The ensuing result is a very impressive game, with plenty of little secrets and a twisty-turny narrative throughout.

If you have played the game and finished it, you may be wondering whether a sequel is on the cards. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Alan Wake 2 about?

Alan Wake is finally back and he’s not alone. In this sequel, he’s joined by Saga Anderson, a plucky FBI agent who ends up investigating a series of mysterious cult killings. As for Alan, he’s still stuck in the Dark Place and desperate to try and escape.

Together, the pair end up intertwined in their respective narratives, which branch together and see Alan trying to stop Scratch and escape the Dark Place.

Will there be an Alan Wake 3?

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind the critically acclaimed game, have a knack for creating compelling narratives with intricate ties to their different titles. After Alan Wake’s release, many fans theorized that Control was part of the same universe, something that Remedy came out and later confirmed.

Alan Wake 2 ends on a rather big cliffhanger, paving way for the upcoming DLCs set to release in 2024. We do know that Alan Wake 2 will be receiving a New Game+ mode, called Final Draft. This not only enhances gameplay but also adds to the game’s narrative, boasting new collectible manuscript pages and TV screen videos.

Furthermore, Alan Wake 2 is set to receive two DLC releases, Night Springs and Lake House, with the latter rumoured to serve as a crossover into Control. These will almost certainly come in 2024.

With all that in mind, it’s fair to assume that Alan Wake 3 is some way off from being greenlit, but we’re going out on a limb and believe that we will see a sequel to Alan Wake 2 in the future.

We’ll keep you posted as we know more.

What we know about Alan Wake 3 so far:

Given the game hasn’t officially been greenlit yet, we can only speculate over the direction this one is likely to take. We do know that Alan Wake is still stuck in the Dark Place, with the ending hinting as such with the post-credit scene. We cover this in a lot more detail within out game guide and ending explained, which you can find HERE!

It’s fair to say that Saga Anderson will almost certainly return, as will Mr Door as well. For now though, we’ll have to wait and see what happens during the DLC.

  1. It was an epic game. Keeps you hooked all the way through and I’d recommend it to anyone so long as they are an adult because it is a very dark and disturbing game. I truly can’t think of a single way they could have made the game better. I think it’s going to get game of the year. At a minimum it’ll get something like, best story in a single player game award. And it most definitely deserves it as I can’t think of another game I’ve ever played that had a more addictive story.
