Renewed Or Cancelled?
From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke is the latest adaptation of the iconic romantic manga of the 2000s. Following its 2-season anime, we got a movie adaptation which to date has been one of the best Japanese slice-of-life movies ever made with the legendary Haruma Miura.
But fans always love a drama adaptation as we get more screen time for each of the manga chapters to be faithfully recreated and that was exactly what we got from the new Netflix original J-drama, From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke.
Well, after watching season 1 in its entirety, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke season 1 about?
From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke season 1 follows Sawako Kuronuma, a sweet high schooler who just wants to make friends. Unfortunately, her long hair makes her look ghostly as she seems to scare away anyone she approaches. Despite being nicknamed Sadako from The Ring, she doesn’t shy away as she helps out her classmates and is always friendly to them.
One day, the popular and beloved student of their class, Shota Kazehaya decides to befriend her as he notices the little things she does for their class. She is shocked that he is not only nice to her but also happens to call her by her real name. It allows her to stand up for herself and go down a new path.
We have extensive coverage of From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke across the site including recaps for every episode. You can find those HERE!
Has From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke has not been renewed for a second season.
The Netflix original more or less completes the whole source material as each of the manga chapters has been covered in the 12 episodes. We get the same ending as Sawako remembers Kazehaya’s declaration of love for her and reunites with him after she graduates. So, if we are to follow the original story, there is no more material left for a season 2.
But partial good news, we are getting a new season for the anime after tons of special issues of the manga! After 12 years, the anime Kimi ni Todoke is getting a season 3 with all the original creators and will be released on Netflix.
What we know about season 2 so far:
If we do get a season 2 from the Japanese drama, it will have to deviate from the original manga. We would love to see Sawako and Kazehaya’s reunion and their life together after college. We would also love to see more of their friends including Kurumi who gets her redemption arc by the season 1 finale.
And well, apart from the heartbreak we got as Sawako and Kazehaya separated, the other couples we would have loved to see together are Yano and Kento, and Yoshida and Ryu and a season 2 on how they all get together would be adorable.
We’ll be sure to update this page if there are any changes on this front.

This series from ’23 was my first contact with the story. So, I didn’t had any expectations.
Even I had the feeling is somehow rushed sometimes and when I read about the source material I understood why.
Despite that Kimi ni todoke is one of the best love story I’ve seen.
Anyway, I don’t want a second season because this 12 episodes told us everything. A second season will not have the same style and will feel too different to integrate in the main storyline.
One part of me is happy for the story told in only 12 ep. (drag a story to long and will become Santa Barbara, brrr..) and one part sad because I liked so much and didn’t want to finish that soon.
