Has Eva Lasting been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Eva Lasting is a Colombian teen show on Netflix. It has a slate of newcomers in the cast roster and presents a unique take on the teen romance genre. It comes alive in Colombia in the ’70s and ’80s, which was a socially and politically turbulent time for the country.

Even though the central premise is that of a fledgling teen romance, Eva Lasting has a constantly reinvigorating commentary in the background about everything that went on in those days. It can be seen as a window to the past and a slice of everyday Colombian life.

Eva Lasting’s most compelling theme is the use of books – which form the title of every episode – to enhance and enrich the storytelling. Using excerpts and pertinent themes from those great literary works are inspiring. They fit seamlessly within the context of the plot and truly shape the central character of Camilo and how we see the show.

These classics are the special condiment in this bustling potpourri of ideas, emotions, and drama that make Eva Lasting a truly Colombian delicacy. Here is what we know about the renewal/cancellation status of Eva Lasting on Netflix:

What is Eva Lasting Season 1 about?

Eva Samper is an outspoken feminist who is put in an all-boys high school in Bogota, Colombia. The Jose Maria High School is unprepared for her shocking arrival and explosive stay. She befriends a group of boys – Camilo, Martin, Gustavo, Rodrigo, and Alvaro – to make that adjustment easier.

At first, they see her as someone hostile looking to break the group and take over. But soon enough, her personality and the tidal wave of books, movies, culture, and cosmopolitan ideas win them over. Camilo desperately falls in love with her. And like all great love stories, must fight for the love of his life. We have extensive coverage on the site for Eva Lasting, including recaps for every episode and a full season review. Has Eva Lasting been renewed for season 2?

Eva Lasting has been renewed for a second season by Netflix! The decision comes on the back of stellar showing by the show, especially in Spanish-speaking countries. According to the Netflix database, Eva Lasting ranks in the top 10 of the most-watched shows in more than 20 countries since its release last month.

The news was confirmed via Twitter by  Carolina Leconte, Content Director for Colombia, Argentina, and Chile. She expressed her excitement at the news and said, “We are excited that the fans have loved this series as much as we have and announce that they will be able to continue enjoying this story, which allowed us to travel back in time to Bogotá in the 70s and continue to learn more about those characters that reminded us that after La primera vez once everything changed”

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics though, as recently revealed with the shock cancellation of 1899.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, A Girl and an Astronaut a has had a pretty bad reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many lamenting the awful pace and laborious storyline.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known at the time of writing, except for the renewal. The explosive ending saw Luisa call Camilo and inform him that she might be pregnant with his baby. After seeing the love of his life leave him without saying goodbye, Camilo can only put up a brave face and hope things change for the better. Given the closeness of the group, it will be interesting to see how Martin reacts to this news, especially given his hotheadedness.

There also remains the anticipation of another meeting between Eva and Camilo, and also to see what Eva is up to at her new home. Will she make new friends in the US as well, where she will be seen more even-handedly by everyone else around her? All of these are interesting avenues that can be explored in season 2.

  1. This show is a pure delight. I am also thinking whether Eva will fight back for Camilo as deep inside they connect to each other. In first season you see how Camilo innocently tried everything. I personally don’t think Luisa is pregnant but she is aware on how Camilo is going head over heels on Eva and was not happy that Eva responded to his love. All of them thought she will not. Martin still love Eva though not knowing how to speak with her and Luisa wants an eye to an eye for Camilo. I can only hope they fight against the odds and that Eva gets back to Camilo’s heart. In the end Camilo’s parents represent an older version of them

  2. The show brings me back to many memories of my childhood, I love the music I know every song, good job Dago García I will wait for the 2nd season.

  3. Absolutely touching, feels amazing to travel back to these early exploring teenager years 👍 nothing has been left behind, the friends, the bowling alleys, all of us falling for the same girl… a genuine jewel! Ty Netflix!

  4. I absolutely loved every minute of it. I think it’s clever and well narrated. The actors are brilliant. I told my daughter she’s British and they do have Spanish lessons in high school to watch the series in Spanish. It’s a lot easier to understand the Colombian Spanish than Spanish from Madrid 😂

  5. I’m an American from New York City, I was hesitant to watch this series at first because I didn’t know rather or not it was in English. Just yesterday morning I decided to pick it on Netflix and find out if it’s in English, it is, and I binge watched the whole first season yesterday. I loved it! Great storyline! Great and believable interaction between characters by incredible, young up and coming actors! Great series! I’m impatiently looking forward to season 2.

  6. Really touch my heart this is a very nice and adjust to reality lecture about my generation life, I was 13 years old at that time and live all the script show, what a remembrance, congratulations on this serie. Hope don’t lose the track on the second season and keep the natural feeling without mix with the glory and alabanzas to the Narcos of the following years, making them the Gods of the corrupt and saddened Colombia 🇨🇴 today.

  7. It was a very educational and entertaining face to see how a dejavú took place and related to this show, do to me growing up in that same era and is also great to hear the accent and language that I grew up with. Can’t wait for season 2

  8. I absolutely loved everything about this sweet love story. Not only the love between Eva and Camilo but the love between the friends and family around them. It has a little wonder years flair to it. I cannot wait for the second season. I wish I had had a girl like Eva around when I was that age.

  9. What a fantastic show. Although I grew up in Germany and Canada during this time period, this wonderful show resonated with me in so many ways. I cannot wait for season 2, 3 and hopefully 4. Qué Chimba!!

  10. What a nice and beautiful show Dago Garcia put together. The use of literature is the best part it made me want to read more. I feel so identified with so many characters, my school in Bogota also looked the same. Excellent actors. Well made. The first episode I thought it was going to be just about sex but then it got so much deep and better. I can’t wait to watch season 2.
