Has Divorce Attorney Shin been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Divorce Attorney Shin blends in law cases with a slice of life drama, with the focus predominantly on the comradery between the characters, which is partly what makes this show stand out. If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Divorce Attorney Shin Season 1 about?

Shin Sung-han used to be a talented classical pianist and a music teacher in Germany but then suddenly changed tracks and worked to become a successful divorce lawyer instead. As he tackles numerous different divorce cases, he also works on a mysterious agenda — the reason he became a lawyer in the first place.

Sung-Han stands up for his clients, who happen to sport various unfortunate stories, and stands up for them. While doing this, he approaches the truth that he has been seeking.

We have ongoing coverage of Divorce Attorney Shin across the site including recaps for the season. You can check those out HERE!

Has Divorce Attorney Shin been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, JTBC have not renewed Divorce Attorney Shin for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.

The ratings began with a pretty decent 7.2% share nationwide but since then, the show has been see-sawing between 6% and 5.6%.

Despite the strong ratings, it’s extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season. That has changed in recent years but given the sheer wealth of talent in this that are sure to move onto other projects, we predict that Divorce Attorney Shin will not be renewed for a second season.

We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these sort of shows renewed. With the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.

Having said that though, we have seen Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed renewed recently, alongside Alchemy of Souls too. Given how steady the ratings are for this series, could we see this one buck the trend? It seems very unlikely that Divorce Attorney Shin will, but you never know! We’ll be sure to update this section when we know more.

  1. I love this kdrama. However there are many loose ends, that’s why I’m hoping there will be season 2. The part where the sister of Atty. Shin died in an accident, the second wife should be held accountable knowing her state of mind’s vulnerability, she’s going through a divorce, stomped on, her mental health wasn’t in a good state, then someone called you, that person is the cause of the divorce and have all those psychiatric records of the victim-those harsh words especially about the victim’s son, the only thing she wanted to have is being used to threat her. Harsh words, emotional blackmail, mental health- it boils down on that, that resulted to a tragic lose of life. The second wife should be held accountable, given she was on the other side of the line, what she said and a witness who heard what she said, the mother-in-law. There was a case in the US where the girlfriend while she was on the phone encouraging her boyfriend to go ahead and kill himself, he died with carbon monoxide inside his car. She was charged for that crime although she wasn’t nearby, there was emotional encouragement to the victim to go ahead and kill himself knowing his vulnerability and emotional state.

  2. i would love to see a second season. a number of background stories can be given greater dept. It was a really enjoyable series to watch.

  3. This has been a well crafted series, delightful to watch, with many thought provoking moments.

I have just watched the whole series through for a second time and discovered many subtle points I missed in the first one.

If my single vote counts for anything, I would say to the Korean producers – yes, please make a second series!

  4. I loved this show, and recommend giving Season 1 a boost so more people can watch it…great story and good characters. I an soooo hoping for a Season 2.

  5. Perfect balance of drama and comedy. Being a witness to the bond between the three friends was joyful. I was satisfied by the ending but sorry to see it end. Love to see more adventures with this cast.

  6. The K-dramas with a second season are definite hits. And while Attorney Shin took a couple episodes to bring out the dramatic excellence with comedic undertones, I have never experienced a more internal drive to promote a show to a second season.

    Humility
    Integrity
    Empathy

….live on for another day (season), Attorney Shin!

Real human connections with humor and playful compassion … tears …
Including characters from all age groups …
    Sharp …funny .. and .. convincing…

  9. Loved this show . Lots of legal story lines left to explore. You can’t beat the male friendships. The hilarity! These 3 deserve to work together more. I want more shows like this. Skip the high school dramas. More adulting.

  11. Great selection of actors. Compelling storyline, friendship, respect and client/attorney relationships makes this kdrama unique. It was a refreshing experience. Fell in love with main and secondary actors and every scene that they interacted. Chemistry on point. Bring them back. Child/guardian/father/grandparents adjustments to explore. Personal, love, marriage interests advancement including children. Camping experiences/bonding with the three male friends and young boys helping them understand the importance of true and everlasting friendship.
Many loose ends would come to fruition by exploring human relationships that will make this series and viewers so grateful.

  12. The show needs a second season to complete the story. All of the characters lives are incomplete, and I would like to see the ending.

  13. I love this show, the story line and all. I feel in love with the characters. Surprisingly this only has 12 episode, usually kdramas has 16 or longer. I really do hope they will make Season 2.

  14. Getting ready to watch last episode tonight. Not sure how everything can be tied up in one episode. Wish there were more. Really enjoyed this drama. Love the chemistry of the three friends and Attorney Choi trying to be part of the group!

  15. This is a new spin on male friendship . I absolutely love season 1 . Seriously they need to bring season 2 . Best series I’ve seen in a while . The cast excellent . Who do we write to for a season 2 . Everyone relates to this show .

  16. I believe there should be a 2nd season, two many loose ends. I believe bringing the characters together and getting closer would be a great ending, and I believe cutting episodes hurt the story, they could have finished ,if they went with a 16or 20 episode program not the 12 hurt the story.

  17. I love the show! It is heart warming entertainment. Quitting now leaves so many unanswered questions about what would have happened to the different characters. There is not enough closure, it leaves you saddened not knowing.

  18. Season 2 is a must 👍 Story line are awesome.. Cast has great chemistry between the actors and writer.. Korean Drama at its best.
Touches every emotions of thier audience.. Most importantly “true Freindship and family”
