Has Dear Edward been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Dear Edward is based on the book by the same name and delivers a mix of melodrama and deep, character-driven trauma. After finishing all 10 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Dear Edward Season 1 about?

Dear Edward follows a 12 year old boy called Edward (better known as Eddie), who becomes the lone survivor of a horrific plane crash. Eddie immediately finds himself struggling to comprehend his new reality after losing his family. As he tries to navigate his new life, other men and women affected by the crash grieve and attempt to move on with their lives.

Of course, that’s easier said than done and as more details about the past come to light, it becomes increasingly clear that grief is not a straight line to recovery.

We have extensive coverage of Dear Edward across the site, including a full season review and episode recaps. You can find those HERE!

Has Dear Edward been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, AppleTV+ has been cancelled according to Deadline.

What we know about season 2 so far:

If this show does find a new home, expect Eddie to continue trying to pick up the pieces of his life, whilst simultaneously growing his budding friendship/romance with Shay. Furthermore, Adriana’s political campaign, Kojo’s fatherly woes, Deedee’s new-found single life and more are likely to be explored in more detail!

If there are any significant updates, then we’ll be sure to update this section and let you all know.

  1. I hope Apple TV reconsiders and brings us a season 2 of this brilliant series. I think it has the ability to help those struggling with grief, and the writing and acting are excellent! I wish the viewers had more input into the programming. This is one of the best series I have seen in a long time.

  2. Yes please renew for a 2nd season.
The grief sessions have ended with a party, but I need to learn more . We seen a wedding, couples have separated, the election was won, Kojo and his daughter. Dee Dee and her daughter. Edward and Shay, the letter.

  3. Yes! I LOVE this show. It is one of the most well-written series I have watched. And, I watch them all. Every episode I cried. I feel such a wonderful connection with all the characters. Please don’t cancel!!

  4. I am a therapist and was immediately drawn into the story of these individuals struggling with ptsd. Edward is beautifully acted and his story is far from over- the closing line about a letter from another uncle and Edward shocked he exists certainly leaves us believing there sho u I’d be and will be a Season 2 ! After reading other people’s comments I will have to read the book!

  5. Yes yes let there be a season 2. I cried so much during season 1 that I want those people to find happiness.
The boy that played Edward broke my heart every episode

  6. Though “Dear Edward” deals with an extremely difficult topic and can be very emotional to watch, I believe that it is worth watching though tears may be shed. Life is not always easy and dealing with emotional healing and PTSD is such a necessary matter that is often overlooked. How many people deal with the loss of loved ones daily? Do they have someone they can talk to? Are they ashamed to admit they are hurting? I pray there is a Season 2 of this brilliantly written, acted and directed series so that perhaps more people who are hurting might realize how important it is to share feelings.

  7. Yes, please continue the story! The writing is so good made me laugh and cry. It’s all over the map just like grief. Yes To Season 2

  8. I would love to see a season two. I just watched episode 10, and while some storylines appeared to be wrapped up, others were left hanging.

I loved the book, so I recommend that everyone go read the book while we are waiting for season 2.

  9. My husband and I think “Dear Edward” is the best show on TV. Great cast, great acting, great character study, great music, great cinematography, heartfelt. Please, please renew this and have a season 2!

  10. I have come to care about these fictional characters. Although at season’s end some conclusions would seem contrived IF suddenly tough decisions made are renounced. While people do like happy endings as we all know life is not really like that

  11. People say that this show can be depressing because of the subject. But i think it depends on how you look at it. In the world we live in right now there is so much trauma and knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel makes me feel good. I like the inspiration the series puts out. It is nice to see how different people handle their trauma. We need this right now.

  12. Pleasepkease please let there be a season two! The relationships with all these people bright togeterh from a tragic accident is just starting to blossom and I have to see more of this precious soulful young boy, Edward! We have to know how he continues to hopefully thrive and how he uses his tragedy to help those who have lost loved ones. I just feel he is destined for greatness and can’t wait til he sits down to play Chopin again! Please let us continue to follow this bittersweet story to see all the good that can come from something so sad.

  13. I read the book Dear Edward and loved it! This TV adaptation is really good. There is so much more to tell about this story. There has to be a season two. It was the best part of the book, the happy part. Please renew this show and finish the story!

  14. This is a most remarkable series with every character believable and extraordinarily acted. Each of their stories brings you in, wanting to know more about them and how they continue to cope. Please renew it!

  21. My husband and I love this show and would like to see more about each of the characters and how things evolve further post tragedy. Especially for Edward. ❤️

  22. This show is excellent- writing & acting! What an exploration of grief and all the manifestations of it. My husband and I would definitely be excited about a season 2. PS Please stop with the gay agenda however. It detracts from the incredible story.
