Renewed Or Cancelled?
Daily Dose of Sunshine is the latest Netflix K-drama, taking a deep dive into the world of mental health while also inhabiting the world with interesting characters and some gut-wrenching moments. If you’ve been following the season and finished all the episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Daily Dose of Sunshine Season 1 about?
Daily Dose of Sunshine follows an optimistic and up-beat nurse called Da-eun. She’s been moved from Internal Medicine across to the psychiatry ward, but she’s about to find herself tested like never before. Between difficult patients and a new way of working, Da-eun’s bright spark looks in danger of burning out.
We have ongoing coverage of Daily Dose of Sunshine across the site including recaps for the season. You can check those out HERE!
Has Daily Dose of Sunshine been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed Daily Dose of Sunshine for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.
Netflix tend to use a variety of different metrics to gauge whether a show is renewed, including completion rate and minutes watched.
Despite the strong ratings, it’s extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season. That has changed in recent years with Netflix Originals, but given the sheer wealth of talent in this that are sure to move onto other projects, we predict that Daily Dose of Sunshine will not be renewed for a second season.
We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available though.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these sort of shows renewed. With the exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.
There’s certainly scope for this to expand out and evolve though, and we could either follow a different character like Seung-jae as they navigate through their panic disorder, or we could see all out characters return with more episodic cases to follow.
Given how well-received this one has been, could we see this one buck the trend? It seems unlikely but you never know! We’ll be sure to update this section when we know more.
