The British series Cunk on Earth is a witty and thoroughly amusing account of Philomena Cunk’s (played by Diane Morgan) view of different interesting titbits of world history. It was recently released on Netflix, but BBC viewers got to first see it as early as September 19th, 2022.

The first season was just 5 short episodes, and it has definitely left viewers wanting more. So, will they release a second season? Here is what we know about season 2 of BBC’s Cunk on Earth:

What is Cunk on Earth Season 1 about?

In Cunk on Earth, actress Diane Morgan poses as Philomena Cunk, a landmark documentary presenter. The audience follows her as she travels around the world explaining different bits of history—or, well, her version of it. But when Philomena interviews real-life experts and starts asking dumb questions and making strange analogies, they struggle to respond, completely dumbfounded, much to viewers’ amusement.

It is a really amusing comedic mockumentary—if only school history lessons were this entertaining!

Has Cunk on Earth been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Cunk on Earth has not been renewed for a second season. Because this has just launched on Netflix worldwide, it may take a little while until we have a concrete answer.

Philomena’s antics have done well in Britain with this show and her previous one, Cunk on Britain, but Netflix is most likely testing the waters by releasing Cunk on Earth to international viewers. If it does well, another season may be likely. Time will tell. In the meantime, let’s cross our fingers.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Not much is known about if there will even be a season 2. It’s also possible that they could make another Philomena Cunk mockumentary that goes in another direction, rather than another Cunk on Earth.

Cunk on America would be a great idea (psst…BBC). That would most definitely be hilarious, particularly for British and American viewers!

  8. Most definitely need at least another season if not more. Or as was mentioned above Cunk on America or an entirely different direction. The world just needs more Cunk, her perspective is too fantastic not to continue.

  11. Helps a bit to fill the void left by Monty Python’s demise. How about Philomena meets Spam? Having Spam is the mark of a civilized society is it not?

    This form of humor is so appropriate for a second season that could pick up Earth’s timeline where there are humans doing what humans do best which is fucking things up as in, to err is human.

  19. I was thoroughly entertained by season one of cunk on earth, and would most definitely watch a second season, though it’s best to let nature take it’s course! Don’t force it, Netflix, just let it happen!
