Bupkis is Pete Davidson’s ingenious moment of announcing an intimate portrayal of himself to the world. The eight-part series features a fictionalised (and very real) version of Davidson, who navigates his life problems in a relatable and absurdist fashion. After finishing the show, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Bupkis Season 1 about?

Bupkis features Davidson playing himself. The Pete whom we see on the screen is a mix of fiction and personal. He channels his openness about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse in dramatic fashion in Bupkis. Bupkis, like Davidson’s stage work, challenges societal norms and pushes boundaries.

The show is sort of a tool to bridge the gap between Davidson and his audience. He seeks to establish an emotional connection with us by showing what it is actually like to be him. It does not always come with glory and glamour, shooting off many misconceptions we have about Pete as a person, that the media generally bloats to inflate its own numbers.

Has Bupkis been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Peacock has canceled Bupkis for season 2 according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Generally, Peacock and other streamers gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (aka. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Shantaram). Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.

Bupkis has had a pretty good reaction from critics and audiences, with many loving the style which sports a blend of comedy, drama and a fresh concept that veers away from traditional television norms. In fact, the show had been renewed only for it to be axed in March 2024.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known as season 2 at this point as Peacock has canceled this one. Should another platform pick it up, expect Pete to return for some more truth bombs and absurd, surreal experiences pushing creative boundaries and horizons for storytelling.     This show is so real. I am Italian (raised very “old school “) and my Father (Poppy) just passed away 4 months ago. Joe Pesci reminds me of him so much!

  18. Absolutely renew it!! Loved it, and watched it in 2 days – really hope there is another season ( or 3!) . Amazing cast,( won’t lie, I loved! Everybody Loves Raymond so seeing them was extremely nostalgic ) plus I love them both they are great actors/ comedians) – Please do not cancel this!

  23. Bupkis, was GREAT! Watched the entire season, in one day. Please renew this for at least a season 2, if not more seasons. Great cast, and performances, my favorites are in this, especially Joe Pesci, Edie Falco, Steve Buscemi, and many more cameos. If they don’t renew it for another season, how will we know what happens after the car accident at the end? Please renew..

  26. LOVED Bupkis! After King of Staten Island I was expecting more of the same. But Bupkis is a much more refined, interesting, creative approach to Pete, his characters (family and friends) and his life. Let’s not forget – the casting is fantastic! Edie Falco as Mrs Davidson makes me want to learn more about Pete’s mom. She married a heroic and complicated man and raised Pete, a talented and complicated man. Come on, Netflix- we wanna know more. Please don’t leave us hangin’.

  27. Please renew. Great seeing Pesci and the whole cast was amazing, including all the great cameos. Definitely wanna see more of Pete’s journey. Bupkis Season 2. Lock it in!
