Has Billions been renewed for Season 8? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Billions has been an intriguing crime drama over the years, full of twists and turns and plenty of memorable moments.

With season 7 now over, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Billions about?

Season 7 of Billions saw everything escalate, arguably becoming more dramatic than ever before. With Prince losing an eye-watering amount of $3.5 billion, the one saving grace is that he’s managed to save his political career.

Meanwhile, Rhoades ended up behind bars, before getting busted out by Dave. In season 7, Rhoades went full steam ahead with his attack on Prince and the newly-returned Axelrod. The stakes are higher than ever. Alliances will be turned on their heads and loyalties pushed to the limit.

Has Billions been renewed for season 8?

At the time of writing, Showtime have not renewed Billion for an eighth season. That is perhaps unsurprising given it was confirmed ahead of release that Billions would be ending with this season.

According to sources over at TVSeriesFinale, there could well be a possibility that this series expands out into a spin-off or even a prequel that ties into the main series ala. Better Call Saul with Breaking Bad.

Generally Showtime, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly – and that’s been the case with Billions. We knew ahead of release that this would be the end of the road for our characters. Unless there is a big change here, it seems this is the end of the road for our characters.

What we know about season 8 so far:

Not much is known about season 8 at the time of writing, given Showtime have officially announced this will not be returning. That doesn’t seem to have changed and right now, there are no plans for a spin-off or different show to tie into Billions either. Of course, that could change further on down the line.

  1. Billions needs 5 more seasons to compete the series correctly axe n wags are the show keep it going we are addicted such a great series everyone that I know that watches it loves it.

  2. This can’t be the end of one of best streaming shows ever – like watching epic high speed chess moves with shifting alliances, shrewdly layered strategies and mesmerising characters who take us on one hell of a ride in the high octane world of stock market machinations. Please please please … I want some more….

  3. The ending doesn’t look like an ending at all. And it sure not how Axe would end it, after what we learned about him from previous seasons. I was very much surprised when I learned there is no upcoming season 8. So we are left with narcissistic sociopath on the red carpet to his way to the White House. I hope it’s not prophetic… but still kind of sad… the bad guy wins… though I wasn’t impressed with the alternative to Prince… there is an ongoing truthful observation – decent people don’t try to become top politicians. Season 7 finale is supporting it 100%.

  4. Love love love billions would love to see much more of it all the actors are fantastic but the ending so far was just not believable. The writing was so great except for this last episode axe has lost twice to Prince. Time for axe to win maybe they have the governor being vice president to sabotage the presidency? Who knows we need more one of the best series out there

  5. The most disappointing ending ever. Why would Showtime end it leaving us hanging like this? I have never been so upset about watching a series as much as this. Showtime brought Axe back for this? Why did you make us feel like we’ve been defeated with them at the end, what were the producers or the writers thinking when they were making the last episode? You OWE US another season since we stayed with yall the whole journey. DISAPPOINTING is an understatement to how we all feel right now.

  6. Bobby, Taylor, Wendy, Waggs, Chuck, Ira, and Chuck senior all on one team and this is how the Series Ends???

  7. To end Billions this way is torture. You can’t be serious by ending the 7the season the way you did and than stop. So please make at least 1 more season.

  8. I’m going to lose sleep over this ending! You can’t end it like this! Now that Axe is back we NEED more. Please do a spin off or something.

  9. Great show with lots of twist and turns, love the characters. We need a season 8 to finish out what happens, can that stop Prince, love seeing Axe back. Good series and need to continue.

  10. PLEASE!!!! SEASON 8 (or even a 9 and a 10) IS A MUST!!!! This show is one of the best ever and is up there with Suits and White Collar!!!! We need more Billions!!!!!

  11. If Season 7 is the final, it was a very disappointing end. Too many unanswered quests& situations. Showtime could have done better! Only reason I had a Showtime subscription was beacons Billions! DISAPPOINTED

  13. Not impressed with the hanging chad ending of a great show! I think the characters ALL have a wrap up season in their stories! Give us what we pay for… please!!!

  14. My husband and I plan our Friday nights around watching Billions! We have seen every episode and some of them twice! Please give us a wrap up Season 8 and perhaps an equally great spinoff!

  15. If season 7 is the end of Billions, Showtime has created one of the most disappointing endings of a great series ever! Makes me want to rethink my subscription!

  16. If no additional season beyond 7, Showtime failed miserably ending the series the way it did. No wrap up, just left hanging! Disappointing at best.

  17. I would love for Billions to continue beyond season 7, PLEASE!!!
And Axe has got to come back! Prince is cool but Bobby is my guy!!
