Summary
Beyond Goodbye is the latest Japanese drama on Netflix, with plenty of sentimental moments, dramatic confrontations and really beautiful cinematography. After watching the show, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Beyond Goodbye about?
Saeko is in a romantic relationship with Yusuke and things seem to be going well. However, a tragic accident sees Yusuke lose his life. Saeko falls into deep despair after his death but there seems to be a new lease on life for her. Yusuke’s heart is transplanted into a man named Kazuma, and he seems to be experiencing Yusuke’s memories and thoughts. As the two cross paths, he realizes he feels something for Saeko in his heart and the pair grow closer together. Only, there’s a problem. Kazume is already married.

Has Beyond Goodbye been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Beyond Goodbye has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, Beyond Goodbye has had a pretty good reaction online from critics and audiences alike.
Given the way this show is set up, and given the ending we receive, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. Netflix have a very good track record with their Asian dramas, but this is very much being billed as a limited series. The ending all but wraps up the story so it seems very unlikely that this one would return for another round.
However, we could be completely wrong too, so take our prediction with a pinch of salt!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about Beyond Goodbye season 2 at this point. The ending pretty much wraps everything up, with our two female leads becoming besties (kinda) while Yusuke and Kazume will, presumably, see each other in the afterlife. The only way this story would continue is for their heart being transferred into a third host. Then more drama could ensue from here, but honestly this is a massive long-shot and there’s more chance of Japan winning the world cup at this point!
However, stranger things have happened and if things are to change, we’ll be sure to update this page when more information becomes available.
