Summary
Asura is the latest Japanese drama with plenty of well-written characters and an intriguing plot, along with a lot of heart in this one. This has been quite the ride over the 7 episodes.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Asura about?
Set in 1979, Asura centers on four sisters who face turbulence when their father’s affair is exposed. Embodying the tumultuous “asura” demigods, the women clash over differing outlooks on love yet find moments of connection amid conflict and growth.
All of this culminates in a lot of drama where the four sisters search for true happiness amid clashes, tears and laughter.
Has Asura been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Asura has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, Asura has had a pretty good reaction online from critics and audiences alike, with many pointing out the dramatic tone and how thrilling this one is.
Given the way this show is set up, and the ending we receive, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. Netflix haven’t necessarily advertised this as a Limited Series, but the ending does wrap things up in a rather satisfying manner.
However, we could be completely wrong too, although that does seem very unlikely in this case.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about Asura season 2 at this point. The ending doesn’t leave much room for a sequel, but I guess we could see the family return for another round of sisterly drama.
However, that does seem rather unlikely given what we have to work with here. Either way, we’ll be sure to update this page when more information becomes available.
