A Girl and an Astronaut is the latest Polish series on Netflix attempting to combine romance and drama together. After finishing the whole series, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is A Girl and an Astronaut Season 1 about?

The story flits back and forth between 2022 and 2052. In the not-too-distant future, a Polish astronaut called Niko lost around the orbit of Earth, courtesy of brand new invisibility radar tech, suddenly regains consciousness after being in hibernation for 30 years. When he returns to Earth, officials scramble to work out exactly what happened to Niko and why he hasn’t aged a day.

With Niko unconscious and hooked up to machines, the second part of this story jumps back to 2022 as we follow an unconventional love triangle between three toxic characters that really should be doing something better with their free time. Marta bounces back and forth between Bogdan and Niko, two pilots playing them like a fiddle, jumping back and forth between the two guys whilst torn between who she really has affection for.

Has A Girl and an Astronaut been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, A Girl and an Astronaut has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics though, as recently revealed with the shock cancellation of 1899.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, A Girl and an Astronaut a has had a pretty bad reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many lamenting the awful pace and laborious storyline.

Given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. Generally that completion rate is a big sticking point and if this doesn’t grip people then it’s likely people will turn it off.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. However, if this is renewed expect the story to continue, with Marta’s choice to go her own way likely to produce massive ramifications.

As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!

  1. I really loved the show! I have watched it many times over already! I really hope there is a season 2! I really wanna know what happens to Nico he is such a handsome sexy guy!

  2. The ratings for the show are…not so good. They are running, generally, 2 to 2.5 stars on the 5-star scale. Rotten Tomatoes has the best rating but that is only 69% where they consider 70% a box office bomb.

    The show has its fans but they are few and far between. It’s Netflix so everyone knows what is likely to come. There’s about a 95% chance the series will not see a second season.

  3. I thought it ended, exactly the way she acted throughout the whole series. She was a cheat, and is selfish woman and choosing herself in the end, only made it clear that she never really had a love for Nico. I really hated her.

  4. Love the show! Please make a season 2. It did go little slow, but you can change it a little bit for second season. You can explain things about season one and put a little more into it for the second season.

  5. Loved it. I found overall the show is a bit slow and the end was a disapointing. – Nevertheless I hope there will be a Season 2 to wrap up the story. I loved the actors and also the beautiful arty touch the story has and the amazing pictures. I very much loved the technological and intelligent components to the story. Yes, I would definitely watch more, fingers crossed.

  10. This show got me hooked pretty fast! Though it did have it’s moments where I was a little confused and I was really frustrated with the ending – I would love to see how Nico, Brogan and Marta move forward, I really loved her with Nico & Brogan so I was pretty torn there at the end, was a major bummer when they didn’t go one way or the other and give us an idea of where they all go from here. Hoping for a season 2, in hopes it wraps the storylines up.

  15. I liked it and am looking forward to seeing another season. I know people that have watched it but don’t use the thumbs up, which I guess is how you gauge it, hopefully you can go by who watches it to the end? I’m going to remain hopeful!

  16. Bit slow they talk about the drop off rate but I got more into it as it went along. I would happily watch another series

  17. I too loved the show!! I hope it does return for a 2nd season. Could include freindly advanced alien intervention to the story line…. :)

  23. I really Love it and would love to see a season 2 and 3 maybe. Good choice in cast and I liked the pace of the show.

  28. Really enjoyed the show. Only down side was it’s in a different language so that through a things off just a bit. Other than that looved the show and would really like to see more seasons !!!!!
