Remnant 2 Boss Guide: How to beat Legion

Remnant 2 Boss Guide: How to beat Legion

Remnant 2 is the latest Souls-like game, complete with procedurally generated dungeons and plenty of difficult boss fights along the way. These bosses can be challenging and really test your skills. Fret not though, our boss guides can help you get through even the toughest challenges that Remnant 2 throws at you.

Legion is a tough and formidable foe, found in the Yaesha region and, more specifically, in the dungeon of The Twisted Chantry. Once you step through the silver veil, a robed figure with a weird glowing eye will approach and the fight begins.

As a quick heads-up, if you haven’t already, you’ll want to make sure your Armor rating isn’t higher than Medium (due to the number of Dodge-rolls you’ll be doing) and come equipped with the Hotshot mod on your best weapon too.

Boss Fight – Legion

Tips for beating

Legion is a two-phase boss fight, and it can take you out quickly if you’re not paying attention. There are multiple layers to this battle, and moves that you need to be aware of, and this fight will see a mixture of timing, patience and aggressive action to overcome.

As soon as you step into the arena, take a right and head up the stairs. This is an excellent area that will not only shield you from the projectile attacks Legion fires, but it also allows you to control the waves of enemies that attack. The Eye is the weak spot but you’ll do far more damage when it’s winding up its Madness Shockwave or launching projectiles at you.

You’ll want to use a combination of long-range and close-combat gunplay here to maximize your effectiveness. The close combat can be used for the spawned enemies, long-range for the Eye. Legion has several moves that you need to be aware of right off the bat though.

Projectile Attacks: A number of red orbs will float in your direction. Be careful as these track to your location until they hit the ground. Be sure to keep moving or hide behind one of the makeshift pillars on that platform to the right to negate their damage.

Spawn Enemies: Legion will spawn 2-3 enemies at your location. These will come in a variety of simple grunts, exploding bloats, enemies that crawl across the ground and sprinters.

Madness Shockwave: The Eye will launch a shockwave across the entire arena. You need to time your dodge roll to move through this at the opportune time otherwise you’ll inflict damage.

Respawn Shockwave: Like the madness shockwave, the respawn shockwave will revive some of the enemies in your general vicinity. Again, this is usually reserved to 2-3. Dodge-roll through this and prepare to attack immediately.

Phase 1

In this phase, you’ll want to position yourself on that platform and keep moving back and forth. Legion will continue to use the same moves as in Phase 1, but the Eye will detach from the altar and start moving around the arena.

There are usually 3 enemies that Legion spawns here; two that drop from the ceiling and one by the glowing orbs on the wall. Do not use your Hotshot mod. It’s better to save that for Phase 2. Continue to spin the camera around and get into a rhythm of taking out the spawned enemies, reloading, and then focusing on the Eye.

When it’s glowing red and winds up its attacks, unleash as much damage as you can. Legion will also signal when a shockwave is coming with a bell chime. Look out for this and keep your camera fixed on the back of the room to judge the dodge-roll. Keep doing damage until Legion is down to around 75% health.

Phase 2

The second Phase of the Legion fight sees things spice up. The Eye will start hovering around the arena. It’ll usually float at medium level toward the back of the arena and up to the stairwell. Sometimes it will come right in front of you and continue to spew projectiles. This is tricky because the shockwaves will continue to pummel you – originating from the same area as in Phase 1.

Here, you’ll want to essentially move round in circles. Use your Hotshot mod to do big damage with a close-combat weapon when the Eye is near and let the heat damage whittle down the health.

Be careful not to be swarmed by enemies and listen out for those bell chimes. You’ll want to keep the platform as your base of operations but keep moving and don’t get cornered by enemies and the Eye!

This is a tough phase as it goes on for a while but be sure to use the same tips and tricks we mentioned before, by making use of switching weapons instead of reloading while cornered by enemies. It’ll take some practice but eventually you’ll get a hang of dodge-rolling through Legion’s shockwaves. Keep at it and you’ll take him out.

Final Tips

Legion is a tough boss and it’s highly recommended to only use melee weapons sparingly, and ideally when the spawned enemies have a sliver of health left. When you defeat Legion, you’ll be rewarded with the Agnosia Driftwood material, which can be exchanged for the Fargazer mod.
