This Can’t Be Life
Episode 6 of Reasonable Doubt Season 2 starts picks up where we left off, with Jax meeting Adrian at Shanelle’s house. Adrian pulls a gun on her and triggers her trauma.
Thankfully, Jax keeps calm and informs Adrian about Daniel waiting outside. She asks Adrian to tell her everything. Adrian insists she already knows too much and Evan is getting antsy. Jax agrees and promises to keep Adrain safe and get his immunity.
Adrian agrees, but on the condition that he will only speak to her when he gets his immunity. Finally, Jax convinces him to drop the gun and calls Daniel to come in.
Later, Jax heads home and pours herself a few drinks to calm down. She heads to the bedroom and tries to seduce Lewis, but he is stressed about Toni and can’t get it up. He still plays it cool and distracts Jax with fellatio.
The following morning, Jax, Corey, Daniel, and Krystal reconvene at the office. It turns out that Adrian told Daniel how Tucker was able to move his money under Shanelle’s name without her knowing. Tucker lied and told her it was a trust fund for the kids and had her sign the documents.
To make matters worse. Lucy added Adrain as one of her witnesses. Jax convinces Corey to trust her and tries to get Adrain to admit under oath that he killed Tucker. Corey is initially uncertain, but everyone else thinks Jax’s idea is worth a shot.
In the end, Corey agrees and listens to Jax’s plan. From the looks of it, the truce really helped these two. One might argue that it worked too well since Corey starts having sexy dreams about Jax.
Elsewhere, Lucy ends up late after she gets a flat tyre. Thankfully, the hearing continues without any further incident. Corey and Jax remain on top of their game and even turn things in their favour in one of the witnesses’ crosses.
At home, Spenser finds out about Naima’s secret social media account. She threatens to expose his secret if he snitches on her. As for Lewis, he corners Toni while they are dropping their respective kids and asks her to consider a paternity test. He convinces her and promises to call back after setting an appointment with his doctor later that day. Lewis wants to be there for his kid.
The next day, Jax goes for her solo therapy session and confesses things are good. However, she is anxious as things feel too good to be true. Her therapist asks her to enjoy the happy moments and savouring them.
Later, Daniel updates Jax on Evans. Sadly, Evans is more dangerous than they expected. He is linked to child trafficking rings and some bad people. However, this is a good thing for Shanelle’s case.
On the other hand, Corey’s dad, Jeremiah, drops by the court to see his son in action. Jax is happy to meet him and praises Corey for following his legendary dad’s steps. The hearing goes well and Lucy starts getting antsy. Corey and Jax come hard for her witnesses, creating seeds of doubt in the jury.
After the hearing, Jeremiah invites Jax and Corey to lunch. Unfortunately, when Corey leaves to receive a call, Jeremiah hits on Jax. This makes her uncomfortable, and she leaves early. She then gets a call that her mom is in the hospital and rushes there. Thankfully, her mom is okay, just working too hard to lose weight.
On the other side of town, Adrian meets with Evans and assures him he handled the Jax situation. He also tells him about the subpoena, but promises he won’t mention anything about their business. Evans threatens to retaliate if he does. In the meantime, Krystal is forced to flirt with a valet guy at a hotel to find out more about Evan’s dealings.
As Jax leaves the hospital, she gets a call from Corey, asking about her mom. Jax tells him about her dad and advises him to be honest with Jeremiah. Outside the hospital, she spots Lewis and excitedly calls him. She watches in surprise as he ignores her call. She calls him again and this time he picks up. He lies that he is at the office and too busy to talk. Jax is concerned but doesn’t confront him.
At the prosecution’s office, Tucker’s mom demands that Tony, Lucy’s boss, turn the case in their favour. Tony scolds Lucy for showing up late and she informs him that her tyre was slashed. She has also been getting death threats, but she assures Tony she is focused on the case. She is, however, not certain if Tony is working on the case for the right motives.
She believes he is using the high-profile case to campaign for the upcoming elections. She also tells him they lost another juror and things are looking bleak for them. Tony suggests they drum up some positive publicity for Tucker.
Jax arrives home later that evening and finds Lewis. He tells her about Naima’s secret account and they confront her together. Jax subtly lets her anger for Lewis on Naima but still doesn’t ask her husband what is going on.
The next day, she talks to Autumn and admits she is worried. Autumn asks her to be patient since it might be nothing or Lewis might be waiting for the right time to talk comfortably about his problem. Jax agrees to give Lewis the benefit of the doubt.
Elsewhere, Corey honestly talks to his dad and expresses his frustrations. Corey has been asking his dad for help with his Isabella case. Jeremiah keeps giving him conditions and Corey is tired of it. After their honest talk, Jeremiah promises to do better but points out that he wants Corey to find someone. He thinks Corey is too focused on work and forgetting his personal life.
Later at court, Daniel reports to Jax, and it is good news. It seems everyone hates Evans and is ready to give their statements. Daniel promises to create a file on Evans and send it to the FBI, but Jax asks him to wait until the end of the day.
The hearing starts with Adrian taking the stand and testifying. He admits to his affair with Shanelle. Lucy paints Shanelle as a calculative woman who wanted to run away with her young lover.
Jax takes the cross-examination and stirs Adrian. He confesses to witnessing Tucker’s brutality against Shanelle. He admits that he wanted to kill Tucker but didn’t. The court is surprised by the turn of events. Lucy tries to object, but it is too late.
Adrian confesses to tricking Shanelle. He goes further and mentions Evans, the company, and basically confesses his love for Shanelle. Evan’s man leaves the court immediately, and it is clear that trouble is brewing. Shanelle worries for Adrain but Jax explains that it was his idea.
Later that day, Jax and Daniel hand over the evidence they have collected on Evans to Tony and Lucy. Protocol dictates they take the file to the FBI, but Jax knows this is a better case for Tony. In return, she asks for immunity and witness protection for Adrian. Evan is arrested immediately and Tony gives a scintillating press conference.
Jax is happy about her day, but things take a dark turn when Krystal shows her a tabloid report on Toni. The media found out about her visit to the hospital to do a DNA test. Although Lewis’ face is turned from the camera, Jax recognises him. She finally puts the pieces together and heads home. Lewis is also on his way home. He has decided to tell Jax the truth, but unfortunately, it is too late.
The episode ends with a man stalking Lucy and her son while at Jax’s house. She confronts Lewis and asks if he got Toni pregnant.
The Episode Review
It finally happened. Jax found out the truth. If Lewis had been honest from the beginning, he might have spared Jax more pain. Finding out that your husband is having a baby with another woman through a tabloid report is wild.
To make matters worse, Jax has to see Toni at some point since she is involved in the case. Things are about to get messy, but we are so here for it. Can’t wait for the DNA results. How will they handle this if Toni is having Lewis’ baby?
On the other hand, can someone check on Corey? Man out here living a whole fantasy in his head. He knows she is married, right? He needs to check himself before his feelings for her grow.
We already had a love triangle last season, and that ended with a man putting a bullet through his head. How will this one end? If Jax slips up and sleeps with Corey out of anger at her husband, more trouble will come calling!
