A Painful Blow
Episode 8 of Ragna Crimson Season 1 begins with Crimson realizing Ultimatia’s morale has decreased due to her being petrified by Ragna’s might. Crimson detonates several bombs across the Lese Kingdom to shatter Ultimatia’s spirit further. By doing so, Crimson exposes Ultmatia’s false sense of security to the kingdom’s people and banks on Ultimatia using her remaining power to rewind time to fix it. Nebulin warns Ultimatia not to use her remaining energy.
Crimson meets with Golem and scolds him for his failures regarding his plan. They order Golem to monitor the bloodline’s movements and to dispose of someone’s body. Meanwhile, Nebulim feels he’s failed Ultimatia badly. He remembers a meeting with Borgius about maturation and its relation to their bloodline. He argues that Nebulim will serve as the progenitor’s backbone one day and should be prideful of that status.
Nebulim powers up and plans to find Crimson. Crimson is confident Nebulim won’t find him and his allies due to the way he constructed the space he and his allies are inhabiting at the moment. He plans to flee with his allies elsewhere since they finished their business in the Lese Kingdom. Ragna awakens and wants to finish off Ultimatia for good. Crimson says he’s done enough and orders him to flee with him and Chimera. Ragna powers up, enticing Crimson to order Chimera to subdue him.
Unfortunately, Ragna causes the space to crack a bit, allowing Nebulim to detect Crimson. Crimson desperately attempts to flee the area but struggles. Crimson orders Golem to shoot at Nebulim, leading to a skirmish between all factions. We cut to a princess and her colleagues. One of them tells the princess that people entered through their underground teleportation circle. We learn Crimson and Ragna managed to escape but ended up in this Princess’s stronghold.
This happens to be the second Princess of the Lese Kingdom, Starlia Lese’s stronghold. Her advisor Isaac informs her that the other man (Ragna) is getting medical treatment while Crimson promises to answer any questions they have for them. Crimson highlights Starlia’s fantastic battle prowess and her handicaps involving her lack of arms. Crimson says he loathes Starlia because it’s difficult to deceive her about matters. Crimson contemplates what to do and believes it’d be best to cooperate with Starlia since their goals align.
However, after taking the time to ponder, Crimson realizes he can deceive Starlia with his aura. Crimson reveals his dragon eye to Starlia and the episode closes with him planning to use his acting skills to fool Starlia.
The Episode Review
Although our protagonists managed to escape the Lese Kingdom and Nebulim’s might, it appears they have bigger issues to worry about regarding Starlia and her regime. Thankfully, Crimson is a cunning ally Ragna can count on and plans to use his wit and charm to use Starlia’s strengths to complete their goals.
By and large, this was a moderately intense episode. It had great visuals and tension. Like previous chapters, this episode shows how Ragna’s not afraid to break away from Crimson’s wishes and to move forward with his plans. While this could backfire on him in the future, it’s nice to see Ragna stand his ground, even if his wishes won’t lead him or Crimson down an easy route.
Moreover, this episode hints at Nebulim’s vast potential as a Blood of the Wing member. While he may serve Ultimatia, he showcases his immense strength and resilience during his brief squabble with Ragna and Crimson. In addition to Borgius’s comments, Nebulim may be a dragon Crimson and Ragna should keep their eyes on in the future.
Overall, this was an interesting episode of Ragna Crimson that gives our heroes more problems to overcome.
