Ragna Crimson – Season 1 Episode 20 Recap & Review

Just Watch Me

Episode 20 of Ragna Crimson Season 1 begins with Ike holding a meeting with other members of the Argentum Corps. Ike informs the group about Nazarena’s reports about the capital. Ike says all the capital’s citizens perished and a giant tree is absorbing nutrients from their veins. Nazarena tells the corps that she saw an upsurge in Silverine in one part of the Palace District.

Nazarena believes Starlia is in the Palace District. Ike states the Winged Monarch (Ultimatia) is in the Palace District, too. Therefore, he says their goals are to slay Ultimatia and save Starlia. Carula states that they should focus on killing Ultimatia. If they do defeat her, then the remaining superior dragons will fall.

Ragna says he wants to fight Kamui. While Shin confronts Ragna about something, Carula promises Ike that the Church will look after the civilians the Argentum Corps saved. She wants to make sure that everyone is fighting at their best. Moreover, Carula ensures Ike that she can handle Ultimatia’s time-controlling capabilities.

Ike tells everyone they’ll begin their plan in two days. Until then, he hopes everyone will prepare. Meanwhile, Gram and Ragna have a quick sparring session. Both warriors acknowledge each other’s strength and growth. Although Ragna is happy with the strength he was gifted, he argues it’s difficult for him to feel proud of it.

Gram informs Ragna about one of the maneuvers he saw him perform during their battle with Taratectora. Gram admits that he imitated this tactic and successfully pulled it off. Even though his feat wasn’t on par with Ragna’s, Gram is still proud of what he achieved. He asks Ragna to continue leading them down a brighter path and showing them his strength.

Alone, Ragna hopes he’ll get to see a future where someone surpasses him in strength. Elsewhere, Fu’s subordinates insist that he stay with them and the Solarians. Fu refuses because he’s set on helping the troops save Starlia. Everyone from Fu and Ike gather around. Carula enchants this group with a time-control magic countermeasure-like spell.

This will enable Ike and the others to act within stopped time. However, they only have three minutes to do so, according to Carula. Ike realizes Carula and her clones are withering. After Carula gives them a heartfelt speech, Ragna and the Argentum Corps arrive at the capital. Zora and Borgius confront the Argentum Corps while Ragna plans to fight Kamui.

Meanwhile, Nebulim senses Crimson and his entourage have arrived on the scene. Crimson realizes Ultimatia hasn’t stopped time and says it’s possible that she can’t. Chimera and another ally arrive on the battlefield. Suddenly, Borgius transforms and tells his enemies that he will crush them. Ragna confronts Kamui and rushes over to Starlia’s side.

Meanwhile, Zora tells the Argentum Corps that Starlia will perish soon, regardless if they defeat him. We return to observing Ragna’s chatter with Starlia. Although Starlia successfully forged the Silver Comet sword for Ragna, she tells him it won’t assist him in combatting Kamui’s claws. Ragna promises Starlia that he’ll defeat Kamui with her sword.

After giving Ragna a small taste of his strength, Ragna entices Kamui to transform into a dragon. The episode closes with the two getting ready to battle at their best.

The Episode Review

It appears we’ll be wrapping up this season with another climactic battle between the humans and the dragons. Although Starlia’s not down for the count yet, things are not looking great for her. At the same time, many folks will question how she’s still thriving considering Kamui’s words he shared toward her in a prior chapter.

Nonetheless, we’re optimistic that Ragna and the others will find a way to cure her from her poison. Additionally, this chapter touches upon a similar notion as this week’s Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End chapter did about the possibility of people surpassing Ragna one day. While Frieren tackles that subject in a better light, it’s nice seeing Ragna Crimson tackle that subject here, too.

Although this was a fine set-up chapter at best, I’m excited to see how Ragna’s fight with Kamui turns out. Considering their previous battle closed on an unfavorable note, we’re hopeful this one will produce more gratifying results. Let’s hope that ends up being the case.
