The Blind Eye
Episode 4, titled “The Blind Eye” begins with Alan and Neel going through a suicide note, where the deceased has mentioned that he is ending his life because of depression. This was a huge blow for the investigation team, as Raaz was the prime suspect and possibly the only one. who could’ve led them to the end of the food chain?
However, Mala is sure that Raaz didn’t commit suicide, albeit someone has killed him to cover their tracks. Mala asks Neel to turn Raaz’s suicide case into a full-fledged murder case so she can find who’s behind all this, and Neel agrees. The case is also taking a heavy toll on Alan’s relationship and is distancing him from his wife and son. His wife, Achala, has started to fear that Alan is hiding something and might be having an extramarital affair.
Meanwhile, Vijay travels to Magdu to meet SHO Rodriguez, asking to examine Raaz’s dead body. Vijay also shows Rodriguez the official order he has gotten from Neel. Mala is also in Magdu to investigate more about Raaz’s suicide. Mala poses as Raaz’s niece so she can extract critical information from other laborers without drawing too much attention.
After investigating the scene, Mala concludes that Raaz was dead long before he strung himself on the tree. Someone has killed Raaz to cover their tracks and made it look like a suicidal death. When Raaz’s body is examined, the Coroner reveals that Raaz’s death was indeed a suicide, but Mala is sure that Raaz was killed.
It also appears that SHO Rodriguez is in cahoots with the poachers, which becomes crystal clear when he blatantly refuses Mala’s request for a post-mortem of Raaz’s body. With no choice left and with no leads, Mala has to return to Malaytoor. Meanwhile, Ishwar calls an emergency meeting with Kishore and Neel. Therein, Ishwar orders them to continue their investigation.
Ishwar also assures them that he will provide all the necessary help and resources, given Neel and Kishore don’t upset any higher-ups. As the episode progresses, Mala and Vijay devise a new plan to catch Poyya in Kasargod. They once again plan to flush Poyya using Yadu, his relative, who agrees to help the cops to avoid being sent to jail.
On their way to catch Poyya, Mala learns of another name, Sasi Illampally, who has been directly in contact with Morris and has also been arrested on multiple occasions for poaching. The plan works, and Poyya is captured by Mala and Vijay. They take him to police stations and immediately begin pressing him for information.
Mala asks Vijay to leave the room and says she’ll interrogate Poyaa alone. Poyya won’t harm her, Mala says. Mala presses Poyya, asking him about Ivan Das and Ravi Don, and the latter reveals that he has never worked with Ravi Don.
As for Ivan, Poyya shares that he doesn’t know where he is hiding. However, Poyya accepts hunting Elephants. To evade sentencing, Poyaa tries to slit his throat using an Iron nail but is saved when Vijay and other intervenes.
The Episode Review
After the turbulent setback of Raaz’s death, the investigation has finally taken a promising turn for Mala and her team. Poyya’s arrest marks a significant breakthrough, even though he’s unaware of Ravi and Ivan’s current whereabouts.
Mala is determined to exhaust every lead to locate them. Perhaps Sasi Illampally holds the key to finding Ivan. As always, the episode is filled with suspense and mystery; however, amidst the intrigue, it was heartening to witness Alan taking steps to mend his relationship with his wife.
