Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Plot Summary
The film takes off after the events of Hasseen Dillruba where Rishabh “Rishu” Saxena is on the run.
After successfully disguising his cousin – Neel’s dead body as his own, Rishu is planning to illegally elope to Thailand with his wife – Rani Kashyap.
Meanwhile, Rani works in Agra as an aesthetician and meets Rishu on and off, in secret.
The two plan on eloping to Thailand illegally as Rishu is supposed to be dead on paper in India.
However, the case is reopened when Inspector Rawat is transferred to Agra. He spots Rani and Rishu which prompts him to reopen the case of Neel’s murder.
Inspector Mrityunjay Paswan joins the investigation to arrest his nephew – Rishu for the murder of his other nephew – Neel.
Trying to divert the cops’ attention from Rishu, Rani marries a young man named Abhimanyu who is deeply in love with her.
What happens when Abhimanyu learns the truth about Rani and Rishu?
One day, Rani confesses to using Abhimanyu to save Rishu from being apprehended by the cops. Since Abhimanyu loves Rani a lot, he agrees to help them elope.
Abhimanyu tells the couple that he was a fan of the Dinesh Pandit crime novels, just like Rani.
He confesses to killing his uncle and aunt using the plot of the novels just like Rani and Rishu had killed Neel. The trio gets together and plans their escape from the cops.
However, Abhimanyu starts acting up and threatens to kill Rani. She rushes to the cops and asks them to save her and Rishu from Abhimanyu.
The cops find a burned dead body and assume that Rishu has killed Abhimanyu. They use Rani to try and lure Rishu out. Rishu agrees to surrender to the cops after meeting Rani in private on the Yamuna river bridge.
The cops agree to the meeting as the Yamuna River is full of crocodiles, which could have been the only way for Rishu and Rani to escape.
What happens on the Yamuna river bridge?
Inspector Rawat gets a call from the forensic department who reveals that the dead body was that of Lallan, the man who helped Abhimanyu in killing his uncle and aunt.
Meanwhile, Inspector Paswan allows Rani and Rishu to chat alone while the cops block both exits of the bridge.
Just then, Abhimanyu, who was disguised as a cop goes towards Rani and Rishu, threatening to kill Rishu.
Inspectors Rawat and Paswan try to get close to the trio but Rani slips off the bridge and is about to fall into the Yamuna river.
Both her lovers try to save her and end up falling into the water. The case is closed eventually because Rani, Rishu and Abhimanyu’s dead body is never found.
Did the crocodiles kill Rani, Rishu and Abhimanyu?
The film jumps six months forward and we see Rani and Abhimanyu living in Himachal Pradesh.
We also see a flashback of how the trio had planned their escape using another one of Dinesh Pandit’s novels.
While Rani was in police custody according to their plan, Rishu and Abhimanyu were feeding the crocodiles to drive them away from the bridge.
On the bridge, the trio had jumped in the water on purpose and were trying to swim to the shore. Rani asks Abhimanyu to help Rishu as he could not swim because of his amputated hand.
Upon seeing a crocodile approach them, Abhimanyu pushes Rishu away and drags Rani ashore. It is assumed that the crocodile has killed Rishu.
Is Rishu alive? Does Rani kill herself?
One day, Rani gets a secret message from Rishu. She sends the novel to Inspector Paswan and reveals her location.
The cops arrive in Himachal Pradesh and find Abhimanyu and Rani standing by a cliff. Rani accuses Abhimanyu of killing his uncle and his family, Rishu as well as two other people involved in the case.
Rani tells Abhimanyu that she cannot forgive him for killing Rishu and jumps off the cliff.
The cops try to search and rescue Rani while Abhimanyu is arrested to be taken back to Delhi. Inspector Paswan learns that Rani’s dead body was never found.
Abhimanyu tells the cop how Rani and Rishu had used the same method to escape yet again.
Do Rani and Rishu end up together?
We see another flashback where Rishi had managed to kill the crocodile using his prosthetic arm. Rishu escapes and goes in hiding.
Six months later, he gets in touch with Rani and plans the arrest of Abhimanyu.
Back to the present, Rani swims through the river after falling off the cliff. She reunites with Rishu what was waiting for her on the other side as the two embrace.
How does Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba end?
The film ends with Inspector Paswan and Abhimanyu accepting defeat upon learning that Rishu and Rani have escaped yet again.
Inspector Paswan mocks Abhimanyu for not knowing anything about Rani’s ruse despite being the son of the crime novelist, Dinesh Pandi who inspired Rani and Rishu as Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba ends.
