Episode 7

Episode 7 of Perfect Family starts with Jin-hyeok being arrested by the cops for the kidnapping of Soo-yeon. He asks Eun-joo to look after Sun-hui as he is taken to the police station. Meanwhile, Dong-ho’s superior compliments him for bringing in the evidence they needed to arrest Jin-hyeok. He questions the lawyer while Sun-hui is at home, blaming herself for what happened to Jin-hyeok.

A flashback shows Sun-hui calling Hyun-min from the hospital and revealing the news of Jin-hyeok’s involvement in the kidnapping and disappearance of Soo-yeon. That evening, Eun-joo goes out in the pouring rain while Sun-hui cries in the bedroom. Hyun-woo calls Soo-yeon and asks to see her in private. He is about to meet her in a secluded alleyway but Sung-woo stops him.

Sung-woo takes Hyun-woo to a cafe and questions him about Soo-yeon. Hyun-woo reveals that he saw Soo-yeon getting into the car on the street and that Sun-hui was pushed in front of the car. Sung-woo reveals that Hyun-woo was wrong because Soo-yeon was dead. Hyun-woo does not seem convinced and tries to look for Soo-yeon.

However, a person in a black raincoat suddenly stabs him. Sung-woo finds Hyun-woo and rushes him to the hospital. Meanwhile, Dong-ho tries to interrogate Jin-hyeok and learns that the lawyer’s car was stolen on the night of Soo-yeon’s disappearance. Jin-hyeok mentions that his car as well as the rented van that almost killed Sun-hui outside her school were both stolen.

Dong-ho tries to get a confession out of the lawyer but Jin-hyeok asks the cop if he has any evidence against him.  He asks if the cops have found Soo-yeon’s dead body and calls them out for illegally obtaining traces of her blood from his car. That night, Sun-hui finds that the glass windows of her room and the living room are broken. She trips on a shard of glass and injures herself.

She spots someone in a black raincoat holding a knife and starts running away from him. Dong-ho learns from Sang-woo that Hyun-woo was stabbed by Soo-yeon. Meanwhile, Eun-joo shows up at the police station at the same time. Sun-hui runs out of the house and the person in the black raincoat, who is none other than Soo-yeon, chases after her.

Eun-joo tells Dong-ho that she is going to testify for Jin-hyeok and present his alibi to the cops. Soo-yeon tells Sun-hui that she stabbed Hyun-woo and hits Sun-hui with a spade, knocking her out. Soo-yeon drags Sun-hui to her bedroom and ties her up to her chair. Soo-yeon starts pouring paint thinner all over the room and threatens to make Sun-hui suffer just like she did.

Soo-yeon blames Sun-hui for trying to kill her after she killed Kyeong-ho. She gets upset when Sun-hui states that she did not kill Kyeong-ho. Eun-joo’s statement helps Jin-hyeok be released from prison. He learns that Hyun-woo was stabbed and goes to the hospital to see him. On the other hand, Sun-hui tries to get Soo-yeon to calm down. She brings up the incident that caused Gyeong-ho’s death.

Sun-hui states that Gyeong-ho was still alive when her mother went in to check up on him. She confesses that Eun-joo did not set Kyeong-ho’s house on fire. This instigates Soo-yeon further and she accuses Sun-hui of getting Jin-hyeok to try and kill her. Just then, Hyun-min shows up at the house and spots Soo-yeon trying to kill Sun-hui. Sun-hui notices Hyun-min and calls out to him which alerts Soo-yeon.

The episode moves on to Jin-hyeok and Eun-joo visiting Hyun-woo at the hospital. Dong-ho apologises to Jin-hyeok and states that Hyun-woo had testified that Soo-yeon had stabbed him. Eun-joo tries to call Sun-hui to check up on her but the call does not get through. She gets worried and tells Jin-hyeok. Dong-ho alerts the cops and rushes Jin-hyeok and Eun-joo to the house.

On the other hand, the Choi family house burns down with Sang-woo passed out outside the house. Hyun-min takes an unconscious Sun-hui in his car while Jin-hyeok and Eun-joo are worried about her safety as the firefighters try to tame the fire. A flashback shows Hyun-min lighting up a cigarette and throwing it inside Sun-hui’s room to set the house on fire.

Soo-yeon unties Sun-hui and the two try to run out of the house when Hyun-min stops them. Sun-hui is confused but Hyun-min orders Soo-yeon to go inside the house and die in the fire. Sun-hui tries to stop him so that Soo-yeon can flee but Hyun-min pushes her. Sun-hui is knocked out. Hyun-min threatens to kill Soo-yeon when Sung-woo shows up there and threatens to attack Hyum-min.

Hyun-min lies to Sung-woo and states that Soo-yeon set the house on fire and was trying to kill Sun-hui. Sung-woo believes Hyun-min but the latter stabs the cop with a knife and knocks him out. He steals Sung-woo’s gun and threatens to shoot Soo-yeon dead. Hyun-min asks Soo-yeon to take her knife back and claims that it was she who stabbed Sung-woo.

The episode blacks out with a gunshot as Hyun-min states that Sung-woo shot her dead.

An epilogue shows Hyun-woo dreaming about getting a big house once he is older so that his hardworking parents and siblings can live happily as the episode comes to an end.

The Episode Review

This episode came with another huge plot twist that we somehow saw coming. It is possible that Hyun-min is indeed Sun-huis birth father and is back to take her. It is scary how Hyun-min was able to gaslight Soo-yeon and was able to manipulate Sung-woo. I am hoping that Sung-woo and Hyun-woo survive because this will surely bring a new twist to the story.

There is a part of me that believes that Sun-hui has been the bad guy all along and she caused the fire that ruined Soo-yeon’s chances of being adopted. It is also possible that she is the one who stabbed Kyeong-ho and tried to cause the fire that killed him and his parents. This theory can be proven by the words that Jin-hyeok said in the last episode when he said how his family went through a lot because of Sun-hui.
