Perfect Family – K-drama Episode 6 Recap & Review

Episode 6

Episode 6 of Perfect Family starts with Jin-hyeok meeting his mother’s steward. The man talks to Jin-hyeok about Sun-hui showing at the family home and asks him to stop her. Jin-hyeok apologises for causing concern for his mother. The steward leaves, warning Jin-hyeok about a life-altering car accident that could take place.

The sinister meeting ends and Jin-hyeok leaves to go back home. The episode moves to Sun-hui in her room as she looks up information on her computer about the fire Hyun-min told her about. Just then, Eun-joo shows up to her room. Sun-hui tries to distract her mother and closes the computer screen but Eun-joo watches Sun-hui do this from the reflection in the window. She asks if Sun-hui wants to have some porridge.

That night, Hyun-woo shows up to meet Sun-hui but Eun-joo refuses to let him see her. Hyun-woo grows concerned for Sun-hui and goes to the police station to report the car accident as well as Soo-yeon’s disappearance. At the house, Sun-hui overhears Eun-joo talking to Jin-hyeok wherein she claims that she wants to kill “them”.

Sun-hui goes to the kitchen and finds some peanut powder there. Knowing her severe allergy to peanuts that often leaves her in near-death situations, Sun-hui panics that her mother wants to kill her. Meanwhile, Hyun-woo meets Dong-ho at the police station and reports the crimes to him. After leaving the station, he sends a message to Sun-hui, asking for her forgiveness.

Eun-joo brings some porridge with peanut powder for Sun-hui to eat but she panics and throws the spoon away. Sun-hui storms out of the house and starts running on the street. She hides near the post office and tells Hyun-woo her whereabouts. Hyun-woo asks Sun-hui to stay put but Sun-hui tries to cross the street with a bunch of other pedestrians.

However, a man in a black raincoat pushes Sun-hui into the street and she is hit by a car. The ambulance is called and Sun-hui is taken to the hospital. Hyun-woo arrives on the street and chases after a familiar man who leaves in a taxi. He wonders where Sun-hui is when she runs into Jin-hyeok who is wearing a similar black raincoat as the man that pushed Sun-hui.

Just then, Jin-hyeok gets a call from the hospital and rushes there with Eun-joo. Hyun-woo joins them at the hospital where they learn that Sun-hui was unconscious due to the accident.

While being unconscious, Sun-hui starts hallucinating that Eun-joo is trying to choke and kill her. Jin-hyeok is asked to talk to the cops who tell him that Sun-hui was pushed onto the street due to which she hit the car. Jin-hyeok appears awfully nonchalant about the comment.

Just then, Hyun-woo rushes to call Jin-hyeok upstairs, stating that Sun-hui has woken up and is screaming. Eun-joo tries to calm her down along with Hyun-woo. Sun-hui pushes Eun-joo away and tells Hyun-woo that her parents are trying to kill her.

The cops who had been waiting outside try to wake Sun-hui up and get more details about the comment but Sun-hui grows unconscious again due to the medicine administered by the doctors. Sung-woo tells Dong-ho that Soo-yeon was seen outside Kyeong-ho’s house on the night of the fire. He adds that there was no way for them to access Jin-hyeok’s dashcam footage given that he was a reputable lawyer.

They hatch a plan and ask a recently released criminal to dash into Jin-hyeok’s car on purpose. The car is then taken in for repair and the cops seek help from the forensic team to try and find any evidence against Jin-hyeok.

The next morning, Sun-hui wakes up to a nightmare of Soo-yeon blaming her for her death. Eun-joo wakes up by Sun-hui’s hospital bed and tries to get Sun-hui to rest.

Once alone, Sun-hui immediately calls Hyun-min and asks him to help her. Hyun-min promises to meet Sun-hui soon. Meanwhile, he is checking the dashcam footage from Jin-hyeok’s car which clearly shows Soo-yeon escaping from his car on the night of her disappearance. At the hospital, Hyun-woo calls Soo-yeon and asks to meet her.

A flashback shows Soo-yeon entering a taxi in a black raincoat minutes after Sun-hui’s accident. Contrastingly, the cops do not find anything in the dashcam and conclude that Jin-hyeok had recently changed the memory card of the camera. In the investigation, it is found that Jin-hyeok’s car had traces of human blood. The next day, Sun-hui is released from the hospital.

While taking her home, Jin-hyeok asks Sun-hui if she is hiding something from them and asks why she made the comment about them trying to kill her. As soon as they get home, the cops show up to arrest Jin-hyeok. Jin-hyeok is handcuffed and taken to the police station. He tells Sun-hui that he is going to be okay as he leaves, asking Eun-joo to take care of their daughter.

An epilogue shows how Jin-hyeok took great care to make Sun-hui happy as a child after she was adopted by him and Eun-joo as the episode comes to an end.

The Episode Review

There is so much going on in this episode and yet we are nowhere close to figuring out what is happening to Sun-hui. From what we see in this episode, it looks like Sun-hui is indeed hallucinating and we cannot be sure if her parents are really all that evil. We can assume that they are not trying to kill her which means that Soo-yeon is indeed alive and is back to make Sun-hui pay.

Since Hyun-woo did see Soo-yeon getting into the cab, I wonder if he has any connection to the things happening around him. Just as the cops said, the people around Hyun-woo keep getting into trouble and I am worried he could be one of the plot twists that will be revealed in the upcoming episodes.
