Parole Examiner Lee – K-drama Episode 3 Recap & Review

Parole Examiner Lee

Knitting Strategy

Episode 3 of Parole Officer Lee picks up where we left off with Chairman Ji, throwing a tantrum after Lee ruins his parole release. The media is quick to report the latest updates on the case, and Jin-chul calls Lee to check on him. He realises the latter is intent on going head-to-head with Chairman Ji and cautions him to be careful.

This is good advice since Eung-joon and Dong-hoon are planning to get even with Attorney Lee. Their first move is to get Won-mi to drop the case. However, she is enjoying the new attention and love she has been getting since the news came out that she sued Chairman Ji.

The public has nicknamed her the Justice Girl, and she is getting advertisement gigs from all over. Her new movie is doing well and even her company is offering her a better deal in her contract renewal.

On the other side, things are not going well for Chairman Ji. He is livid and can’t understand why Attorney Lee betrayed him. He is also frustrated by the incompetence of his other underlings and wants revenge and his freedom.

In the meantime, Attorney Lee meets up for drinks with Seo-hyun to thank her for her help. He gets a threatening call from Chairman Ji and excuses himself. Attorney Lee claims that Chairman Ji showed no remorse, so he had no choice but to stop his parole release.

Once again, the chairman throws around some serious threats before the attorney hangs up. He heads back inside and talks to Seo-hyun, noting he won’t give up even if it is dangerous. He asks her to consider revealing other crimes that Chairman Ji is involved in.

The next day, Attorney Lee focuses on his next case involving a large-scale con man. The con man in question is the CEO of Junbong Holdings Investment and his accomplice, Kim Bong-su. Bong-su is up for parole, but Attorney Lee doesn’t think he deserves it.

The two men swindled many people out of their hard-earned money by promising them good investments. Eventually, the police arrested them and put them in jail, but no one knows where they hid approximately 40 billion Won. Among the people they swindled was Hwa-ran. Do you remember the vicious debt collector?

To help the victims, Attorney Lee approaches Hwa-ran and asks for her help. Ji-soon worries that Hwa-ran is out to get them since they had a previous run-in with her in court. Attorney Lee once represented one of her victims and won the case. Hwa-ran swore to kill them. However, after Attorney Lee promises to help her recover her money, she agrees to give him an audience.

In prison, Bong-su gets attacked by another one of his victims. He manages to turn the situation in his favour when the victim hesitates to stab him. The man lost everything and turned to small crimes to feed his family after getting into an accident. Attorney Lee visits Bong-su in prison and expresses his hesitation since the latter has yet to settle with any victim.

Simultaneously, Dong-hoon starts harassing Won-mi on set to get her to drop the case. He also gets her to visit Chairman Ji in prison. The old man threatens Won-mi, but she stands her ground. She leaves the prison shaking in fear, but happy and proud of herself. On her way out, she runs into Attorney Lee. She thanks him for giving her the best gift ever and he helps her to her car.

After she meets with Attorney Lee, Hwa-ran has her men do a background check on him. Hwa-ran is surprised to discover he’s a parole officer, and she goes to his office to have a serious conversation about the plan. Attorney Lee informs her that he plans to sow distrust between Hee-jun and Bong-su and get them to betray each other. It is a risky plan, but a good one.

In the meantime, Attorney Lee has Ji-soon follow Hee-jun’s fund manager, Lee Dong-myeong. Dong -myeong likes hanging around adult arcades, so it is easy to find him. Dong-myeong leads them to his mom’s restaurant known as Jangju. The place has horrible food, so they wonder why she is keeping it open. Attorney Lee believes that the hidden funds are somewhere in the restaurant, but he is unable to snoop around.

For the second phase of the plan, Attorney Lee visits Hee-jun and informs him about Bong-su’s parole. He hints that Bong-su might take the hidden funds for himself, but Hee-jun denies knowledge or the existence of said funds. However, he seems worried.

He calls Dong-myeong and asks him to look into Bong-su’s parole. On the other hand, Bong-su calls Dong-myeong and asks him to sell some goods for the settlement money with a few victims.

Away from this, Seo-yun works a case to find a missing culprit. She gets a call from Attorney Lee, who explains what he has been up to. They decide to use a fake excuse that someone reported the restaurant for violation of origin labelling.

Dong-myeong’s mom allows them to look around the restaurant. The episode ends with the two coming across Dong-myeong’s den. They find the door open and silently approach. Whatever they see leaves them shocked.

The Episode Review

The episode ends with a cliffhanger, so we don’t know what Attorney Lee and Seo-hyun saw. I hope Dong-myeong is not doing something weirdly wrong. I doubt they found the funds, but they might be getting closer.

Attorney Lee and Seo-hyun make a good team and with Hwa-ran joining them soon, things are bound to get exciting. We are currently in the third episode of the show, but it is not as thrilling as we hoped it would be. Still, it is a good show but we certainly won’t say it is the best revenge show we have seen.
