The Mole
Paris Has Fallen Season 1 Episode 6 starts with Pearce being taken into custody and brought into the headquarters under tight security. He doesn’t resist, but quietly goes along with everything. They bring him into an interrogation room, but he refuses to say anything. All he talks about are the torture tactics he endured from the Taliban. He finds it ironic that they are kinder to him than he expected.
At the same time, Matis informs Zara and Vincent that the IT team is looking into Pearce’s phone. The information might lead them to the mole by the next morning. Vincent checks with Zara if she is still mad at him for breaking cover and saving Esin. She says she is no longer mad but questions if she was too ruthless to hold Esin at gunpoint. Vincent says the situation called for it and she did a good job.
At the prison, the mole sends Pearce a message by adding a small note in his food. Zara goes home and talks to Thea, questioning if she is a nice person. However, she can’t go into the details of her work, which frustrates Thea more.
The following morning, everyone is surprised when Lucas is named the mole. They quickly arrest and interrogate him, but he denies the accusations. It turns out that Lucas has a gambling problem and the IT team finds a bank account under his name that Pearce was using to pay.
They also find a message from Lucas to Pearce. Zara and Vincent decide to monitor Lucas’s phone. His ex-girlfriend Simone says she is surprised since Lucas never paid for their dinner, yet he sold out for money.
The task force continues to hold Pearce, and Freja updates Richard on their plans. She says the plan to secure Pearce is not easy, but they are working on it. Richard is worried that Pearce will talk, but Freja argues he will never. Zara tries to threaten Pearce, but he threatens her back and calls her by her name. He promises to come for her loved ones if she hurts Esin.
Matis gets a call from the Director, informing him that they are moving Pearce to Evreux Base. It is a military base and once he leaves, they will lose access to him. Vincent offers to talk to Pearce alone, hoping to manipulate the connection Pearce thinks they have.
Pearce thanks him for saving Esin from the debt collectors. The two talk about Pearce’s grudge against the President. Pearce questions why Vincent is still working for the President. Vincent asks whether it would help if the President publicly admits her mistake. He promises to talk to her, but Pearce doesn’t answer his question.
Zara later tells Vincent that she spoke to her contact at DGSE and Pearce is being sent to a black site in Morocco. The President authorised the move to protect herself and she will have Pearce killed there. The team intercepts a new message from Lucas’s phone. Someone texted him asking if there is a plan to move Pearce.
Matis, Vincent and Zara agree to postpone moving Pearce. They send a message back, revealing the route to the other party and have an assault team shadowing the convoy. On the other hand, Freja calls Richard and informs her that they are ready and moving in position.
The plan initially goes as planned, but it turns out that Lucas is not the mole, Simone is. She takes out the decoy team and uses Pearce’s men to infiltrate the headquarters. They are dressed as the Raid officers and it takes a while for Vincent to realise something is wrong. He takes out one of the fake Raid officers and calls Zara, who is with Perce. Pearce keeps hitting his cuffs on the chair, which annoys her.
By the time Vincent calls, the men are on to Zara and they shoot Matis. Zara manages to take Pearce, but Simone intercepts her. Simone takes Pearce and gives him the Rid uniform. They use the chaos and a car bomb to distract the police and drive away.
The next morning, Lucas is set free. Vincent tells Zara that Matis will make it. They start looking into Simone. Vincent heads to the palace to confront the President for trying to kill Pearce again. She refuses to apologise and claims she didn’t ask for the mess; she is just doing the best she can. She asks him to wait for her, promising to talk after she returns. However, he gets a call from Pearce, asking him to deliver a message.
Elsewhere, Pearce and his men load up the bomb in a truck and park it on one of the busiest streets in Paris. Once the President returns, Vincent gives the President Pearce’s message. Pearce wants the President to hand herself over in 48 hours or he detonates the bomb.
The Episode Review
The episode builds up to the ultimatum we expected. There is no way for Pearce to get to the President, so he is asking her to come to him. Using the bomb and the lives of the people in the city, Pearce is cornering the President.
Of course, he knows she just won’t leave the Place and run to meet him. However, I am sure Pearce has a plan for that as well. So far, the task force has underestimated Pearce’s reach and has paid a price for it. Simone played them right under their noses. They will need to up their game if they intend to save the city of Paris and the President.
