Paris Has Fallen – Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Beatrice

Paris Has Fallen Season 1 Episode 3 starts with the police making their way into a house. They don’t find anyone, but there are signs of a struggle in the house.

The house belongs to Cedric Duval, and the security team finally comes clean and admits that Cedric is the one who placed the bomb in Pearce’s car. The police think Pearce has already killed Duval, but they are wrong. Pearce is holding him in a remote location and torturing him for information. Unfortunately, Cedric has no information. He only knew his handler’s name.

At the palace, Vincent and the President talk about the recent happenings. She is stressed about giving a press statement about Pascal’s death. It seems their relationship is back on.

While the President gives a press briefing, Vincent gets a call that they found Duval’s body. He finds it surprising that Pearce tortured Duval even after what he went through. The police assume that Duval talked. The security service is finally cooperating and they give up Duval’s handler.

In the meantime, a lady called Beatrice receives a call from Ines warning her that the police are coming. Beatrice is Duval’s handler and has been living a quiet life after her retirement. Beatrice quickly packs up and waits for Zara and Vincent outside her house.

They take her to a safe location while Pearce sends a video message to the security team, asking for their help and promising to pay 5 million euros to anyone who will give him valuable information. Freja is keeping tabs on Pearce for her employers and says she will retire after two jobs.

Back at the station, Zara and Vincent talk to Matis about Beatrice’s behaviour. They believe someone warned her they were coming. Matis orders them to take Beatrice to the safe house and get her to talk. They need to protect anyone involved.

Beatrice says that Duval was in the dark and therefore told Pearce nothing. As they spend time with Beatrice, Zara finds herself relating to Beatrice. The woman made a lot of sacrifices and lost the affection of her family. Her job was her life and she dedicated her life to it. Currently, she only cares about her favourite plant.

The more Zara learns about Beatrice, the more taken she is with her. Soon, she convinces Beatrice to do one last op. She knows that Beatrice is dying to get back in the field one last time. Beatrice also has a heart issue and is in her last years. This is her only chance to do what she loves again.

Vincent is not pleased that Zara talked to Beatrice without his involvement, but it is what it is.  Beatrice agrees to be used as bait to get to Pearce. She offers to give him the information and the team starts making the necessary plans.

On another front, the President attends the briefing at the station and Zara picks up the odd vibes between Vincent and the President.

Back to Beatrice, she allows the police to use the tracker in her heart pacer to track her as she meets with Pearce. Pearce sends Freja to meet with Beatrice and gives her instructions to get on a specific bus at a specific time.

The police follow Beatrice closely behind until the bus gets into a tunnel. Pearce stages an accident outside the tunnel, causing a jam. He uses this opportunity to get on the bus and talk to Beatrice.  Beatrice insists on having the money sent to an account she set up for her son. She had called him earlier to say goodbye because she knew Pearce would kill her.

Once the money is transferred, Beatrice stalls for time as the police rush to get to her after spotting Pearce. Gunfight around the bus ensues. Pearce threatens to kill a passenger, forcing Beatrice to give up the valuable information.

By the time Zara and Vincent get to the bus, Perce is on the move and Beatrice is hanging on by a thread. Zara chases after Perce and his men while Vincent administers first aid to Beatrice. Before dying, she tells him that she told Pearce the truth. The one who ordered the hit on his life that led to the death of Amina and her two children is the President. Vincent is shocked.

Zara loses track of Pearce and feels bad for getting Beatrice killed. When she learns that the President is Pearce’s next target, she assures Vincent that she will be safe. Vincent offers to communicate the threat to the President’s security team. He drops Zara home and Thea ends up finding Zara’s gun in her backpack.  Thea is shocked as Zara can’t explain the gun.

On the other hand, Vincent confronts the President, and she admits that she ordered the hit on Pearce to stop him from telling the truth. She claims she had no choice. The truth could have ruined her presidency even before it truly began. He warns her that Pearce is coming for her.

The episode ends with Pearce watching the President’s speech about how Paris will remain strong and won’t bow down to terrorists.

The Episode Review

It was fun while it lasted, but reality has set in the relationships of Zara and Vincent. Secrets have a devastating way of coming out, and this is the case for Vincent and the President.

The woman he loves killed three innocent people in an operation to protect her presidential legacy. Can Vincent live with this information and still love her? Thea is realising Zara is not an HR worker. HR workers don’t carry guns and always show up with bust lips. W ill she is able to accept Zara’s work? Will Zara even come clean in the first place?

All that aside, this is getting more exciting. How will Pearce get to the President? She is the most protected person in the country. He will have to be innovative in his next plan, but I am excited to see how everything unfolds. I love a good revenge plot and Paris Has Fallen delivers on this front!
