Overtake! Episode 7 begins with Koya tensed up at home. The scene switches to Arisu expressing her concerns about Satsuki’s health to Koutarou. Koutarou advises her to pay a visit if she is concerned.

Haruka has a discussion with Koutarou, expressing his concerns about Koya as he hasn’t seen him in a while. Just then, Futoshi enters while taking a call and informs them that they lost the sponsorship with Mikazuki Beverages.

The scene switches to Koya learning about the cancellation of the contract and begging the woman to reconsider their decision. Just then, a man enters and explains the reason to be Koya’s past. He explains that they had received emails complaining that they used a photographer who heartlessly clicked a picture of a girl being swallowed by a tsunami.

Saeko explains the situation to the Komakis. Haruka sends him a text message before heading to another race. Tokumaru finishes in first place. Tokumaru confronts the new teammates, calling their and his success luck.

Haruka and the team realize the drop in performance due to losing a sponsor, but Haruka assures them that they had always raced without funding from a sponsor.

Later that day, Koutarou expresses his disappointment in the impact of losing a sponsor. Just then, Haruka arrives and has a conversation with Koutarou. He expresses his concerns for Koura. Koutarou encourages him to go and meet Kouya. Haruka sets off to Koya’s address.

Arisu arrives at Satsuki’s hospital door to meet him but finds fangirls flocking around him. She chases them away and begins to have a conversation with him.

The scene switches to a conversation between Toshiki and Mr. Ena. Toshiki points out a few flaws of his teammate drivers from footage of the match. Toshiki appreciates Mr. Ena but suggests moving on to the next step as he can’t keep racing in F4 forever.

The scene switches to Haruka sitting outside Koya’s apartment and giving a heartfelt speech while appreciating his efforts. Haruka then finds that Koya’s door isn’t locked and heads in. To his surprise, Koya is nowhere to be found inside at the end of Overtake! Episode 7.

The Episode Review

The anime takes a brief pause from racing to focus on the personal lives of the characters in Overtake! Episode 7. Recent events have brought significant changes. Satsuki’s time off has greatly impacted Belsorriso’s team. It appears that Toshiki, who had always aimed to be the first driver, now intends to leave and move forward.

Koya has also departed without a word, leaving Haruka and the others concerned about him. The dilemma surrounding Koya’s picture of the girl prompts a moral struggle. It certainly falls into an area that sparks enough guilt in Koya for him to wrestle with. It’s something that many shows find challenging to depict in such scenarios.
