Our Little Secret (2024) Plot Summary
The little secret lies between exes who re-meet at the family Christmas of their new partners who just happen to be brother and sister in an uppity three-child family. So, the two agree to keep their previous relationship on the down-low because that could be awkward. Right? Almost instantly the younger sibling of the house finds out, eager to blackmail the houseguests for all it’s worth.
Lindsay Lohan (Just My Luck with Chris Pine (Star Trek reboot, Wonder Woman), the ever-classic BFF movie, Mean Girls, or this year’s Irish Wish with Ed Speleers (Star Trek: Picard S3, Outlander) plays Avery while Ian Harding (Pretty Little Liars, Long Slow Exhale) is ex-boo, Logan. It’s led by Stephen Herek, a director known for light entertainment including the recent Dog Gone plus classics like Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Mr. Holland’s Opus.
Of course, this little secret is the tip of the predictable iceberg, where Logan – current boyfriend of Cassie, played by Katie Baker (The Sex Lives of College Girls) – is tasked with holding everyone’s indiscretions, one after the other, as he continues to hang out in the wrong place at the wrong time just trying to get some work done.
Of course, in the time-honored tradition of rom-coms, all the way back to Shakespeare, there has to be a mix of misunderstanding, misplaced romantic feelings and tropey circumstances – like when your girlfriend’s mom receives the lacey gift meant for your date. Kristin Chenoweth adds energy as the self-absorbed mother but she too is flying solo, disconnected from the rest of the cast. (For a better taste, catch her quick appearance in Wicked: Part 1). Unsurprisingly, once aligned, Avery and Logan gradually begin to revisit feelings for each other.

Why does Callum blackmail Avery & Logan?
In short, because he can. As he obviously comes third on his mother’s ‘favorites’ of 3 list, I think he sees it as a chance to embarrass his perfect siblings a bit. Also, the under-ager needed to get booze somehow…
Why does Cameron’s mother, Erica, not like Avery?
On their first meeting, she points out her under-dressed outfit and gift of wine with a twist cap but the real reason looks a lot more like Avery doesn’t quite fit the ideal for mommy’s perfect son.
What’s with Avery’s weird speech at the church service?
THC is the answer. When a starving Avery eats Callum’s pocket candy, she actually snarfles pot gummies.
Why does Logan agree to hide his past from his girlfriend’s family?
Logan is put in a tough spot. While admitting their previous relationship doesn’t feel like a huge issue to him, Avery is truly worried about revealing her past – and they were childhood best friends. The extra incentive is that Avery promises to give him her professional help on a project that he’d dearly like to see come to fruition.
Why does Logan work during the holiday?
Logan doesn’t quite see his own potential but Avery convinces him to pitch an idea to a friend of his girlfriend’s family. Once the idea is out, he’s determined to present it before the holiday finishes.
How does it end?
Logan sees the Avery he once knew and they get back together. He then helps her to fulfill her dream of buying her family home and building a family in it.
How do Erica & Sophie’s Dad, Stan, end up together?
Uuuhhh… part of the neat holiday bow, since their spouses were cheating on them with each other, I guess what’s good for the Xmas goose is great for the holiday gander.
