Oshi No Ko – Season 2 Episode 10 Recap & Review

Liberation

Episode 10 of Oshi No Ko Season 2 begins with Aqua confronting Taiki about their father. Aqua learned that he and Taiki possibly share the same father, making him, Taiki, and Ruby half-siblings. Taiki and Aqua travel to Taiki’s place to discuss things. At Taiki’s home, Taiki tells Aqua what happened to his parents. We learn they perished via a double suicide attempt.

Taiki tells Aqua his father is named Seijuro Uehara. Aqua is shocked when he learns about Seijuro’s demise. Taiki admits he hated his father so he used his mother’s family name for his stage name. Aqua returns home and explains to Ruby what he is doing. He reflects on his father’s demise afterward.

After Kana checks up on Aqua, Aqua reads Akane’s messages. Then, Aqua ponders if it’s okay for him to live a happy life. Then, MEM-cho, Kana, and Ruby discuss their YouTube Channel and how they are close to reaching 20,000 subscribers. MEM-cho explains the significance behind that to the two.

Then, MEM-cho tells the girls she’d like to film room tour videos. The girls start with Kana’s room and Kana shows off expensive belongings she never used. Despite buying expensive gear, Kana promises everyone she knows how to manage her cash.

Ruby returns home and looks at her Ai posters. She plans to take the posters down because she doesn’t want the world to know she’s Ai’s daughter. Ruby hops in bed and reflects on why she chose “B Komachi” as her idol group’s name. She wants to fulfill Ai’s dream and see Gorou again. MEM-cho, Ruby, and Kana discuss MEM-cho’s music video plan.

Kana says her final Tokyo Blade performances may interrupt this music video plan. MEM-cho says it’s okay and will develop a workaround for Kana. Then, MEM-cho confronts Miyako about the song request she put in for their group. Miyako says she requested a song from Hiruma, a man who composed songs for Ai’s idol group.

Aqua shows interest in Hiruma but backs off. He doesn’t want to get involved since he knows about his father’s demise. Ruby urges Miyako to encourage Himura to finish composing the song early. Ruby states why it’d be in Miyako’s best interest to do so. Miyako calls Himura and Himura says he’ll try to compose a great song.

Kana argues Himura suffers from Big Shot Syndrome. She argues this is preventing Himura from writing a song for them. Miyako sends Himura a recording of Ruby.

Ruby motivates Himura to write the song. Aqua informs the audience that Tokyo Blade’s state play run has ended. He wonders what he should do next. Ruby and the others convince him to go to Miyazaki with them. Aqua ponders it over and accepts Ruby’s request. The episode ends with a shot of a mysterious girl.

The Episode Review

After a week’s break, Oshi No Ko Season 2 is back in business. This episode shows Taiki revealing crucial details about his father and mother. Taiki also explains why he took his mother’s stage name. This gives Taiki’s character great depth and indicates that he may have a crucial role to play in later arcs. Hopefully, that’ll be the case.

As for Aqua, it’s great to see him appear more laid-back and less unhinged. Harboring hate and anger toward a specific person can mentally damage anyone, leading them down a dark path. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see how Aqua interacts with the cast at Miyazaki now that he is temporarily freed from his internal suffering.

While that can change given the nature of Aka Akasaka’s writing, it’s nice to see our male lead evoke a peaceful aura for once. Additionally, this episode highlights the new B Komachi’s plans for YouTube fame. Many YouTubers will get a kick out of MEM-cho’s arguments. Many will agree with what MEM-cho has to say about YouTube.

But all in all, this was a fun episode of Oshi No Ko Season 2. We’re certain fans are excited to see what awaits Ruby and Aqua when they head to Miyazaki.
