Oshi No Ko Chapter 166 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

Star

Chapter 166 of Oshi No Ko begins with Akane discussing death, darkness, and dreams. Akane argues that it’s challenging for people to move on from everything. Akane says Ruby suffered the most from Aqua’s death. After crying and seeking support many times, Akane says Ruby eventually found the strength to run.

Do Akane, Kana, MEM-cho, and others move on with their lives?

Akane tells the readers that she, Kana, and the others chose to move forward. She argues that everyone went on to find their life’s purpose. However, Akane argues that she and the others occasionally remembered Aqua’s death. Akane argues this path isn’t easy. However, Akane speculates everyone will find their reason to live if they do.

During Akane’s rambles, Kana discusses unknown things with a film crew. Akane does the same. Moreover, Taiki visits his family’s grave and an unknown female reads a B-Komachi hiring audition poster. B-Komachi wants to gather more idols.

At the same time, Taishi researches things on his computer. We receive a shot of Taishi’s Japan Academy Trophy and Aqua’s photo nearby.

What new details does Akane reveal about Ruby’s progress? How does the world respond to Ruby’s story?

Akane tells readers while Ruby found the strength to run, she hid her sadness behind lies. Then, Akane says the world interpreted Ruby’s story as a tragedy. Akane argues people couldn’t take their eyes off Ruby afterward.

What happens during B-Komachi’s performance at the Tokyo Dome?

Ruby, MEM-cho, and new B-Komachi members perform at the dome. Akane and Kana are in the audience. The former continues rambling about Ruby using lies to hide her inner sadness. Akane argues Ruby’s lies serve as a beacon of light that’ll help free people trapped in the darkness.

After that, Ruby strikes a pose. The crowd holds up their star rods. Kana, Akane, and others in Ruby’s friend group positively respond to everything.

How does the Oshi No Ko manga series end?

Some time passes. Ruby wakes up because she has a rehearsal scheduled for today. She argues she must continue to lie even if life gets harder for her. Nonetheless, Ruby promises to visit the future Ai and Aqua illuminated for her.

Oshi No Ko’s manga ends with Ruby leaving home.

The Chapter Review

Many manga ended in 2024. Oshi No Ko is another series fans can add to that list. Many will be disappointed or mixed by this final chapter’s events. With its questionable instances and missed opportunities, some may argue these closing chapters lacked passion and heart.

Nonetheless, seeing Ruby smile and perform on her dream stage was satisfying. We’re certain Doga Kobo Studios will do their best to capture this wonderful moment in the anime. Akane’s narration segments were a bit much though.

Some would’ve preferred having Kana, MEM-cho, or someone else say something at the end. Granted, the previous chapter gave readers an upsetting scenario with Kana at Aqua’s funeral, but more would’ve been great.

But all in all, this was a fine conclusion. It’s not marvelous, but at least one of the Hoshino’s got to live on despite their tragic position.
