Episode 4

With episode 4, we now march into the year 1991, suggesting it has been almost three years since Emma and Dex cross paths in Edinburgh. They’ve left the hustle and bustle of London to enjoy the serene beaches of Greece. Emma has decided to keep things platonic between herself and Dex. This means no sex, no kissing, and no sharing the same bed. 

Unfortunately, they had to break their third rule since the hotel they booked didn’t have extra beds. However, neither of them can deny that there is some obvious sexual and romantic tension between them.

We see both of them reminiscing about their first night together in Edinburgh. When Dex tries to bring up the same subject, Emma playfully lies that she doesn’t remember all the details. 

At dinner, they share their deepest secrets. Dex talks about kissing a guy in a club, while Emma reveals having a massive crush on Dex before they met officially in Edinburgh, so much so that Emma had even penned a couple of poems about him. However, Adam already knows this, thanks to Tilly, Emma’s roommate. Dex asks Emma if she still sees him in the same light, and Emma lies about not feeling the same way. 

As the episode progresses, we see Dex removing all his clothes and running into the water to skinny dip. Dex asks Emma to join her, and even though the latter seems hesitant at first, Emma races after him. In the water, Dex reveals that he, too, has a crush on Emma but is not ready for a relationship. However, if Emma wants to have fun without any strings attached, Dax is on board. This upsets Emma, and she walks out of the water, marking the end of the episode.

The Episode Review

Episode 4 seems to mark a turning point for Emma and Dex, as it looks like they’re heading down different paths from here on out. Dex confesses that he likes Emma but doesn’t want to commit to a relationship, only wanting to have fun.

This leaves Emma feeling like she’s just another girl to Dex – someone he can be with today and say goodbye to tomorrow. It’s clear that this is going to put a strain on their relationship and lead to some fallout. Let’s see how they navigate this tricky situation.
