No Way Up Plot Summary
No Way Up is an action-packed drama written by Andy Mayson and directed by Claudia Fah. The story revolves around two groups of travellers on a flight to Cabo.
The first group includes Kyle, Jed, Eva, and her bodyguard, Brandon. If you don’t know, Eva is the daughter of the governor of L.A., while Kyle is tired of constantly being in the spotlight when he’s with Eva. This is evident at the airport, where a check-in officer recognizes Eva.
The second group consists of Rosa, along with her grandparents, Hank and Mardy. Both groups board the plane for Cabo, only to find themselves in the center of the dramatic events that will soon take place.
How does the accident take place?
As both groups board the flight, they meet Danilo, the flight attendant. The flight experiences constant turbulence, making Jed uncomfortable. Suddenly, the plane starts vibrating intensely, but the pilots reassure the passengers that everything is fine and attribute it to a bird getting stuck in the engine.
However, things take a turn for the worse when the plane starts tilting to one side. Rosa looks out the window and notices that the engine is on fire. Rosa tries to alert her grandmother, Mardy, but before Mardy can convey the situation to the cabin crew, the engine explodes. A piece of the engine breaks off, creating a huge vent in the plane and causing it to break into two pieces.
This also throws most of the passengers off the plane. In addition, a fragment of the destroyed engine hits Kyle, injuring him. The plane plunges into the Pacific Ocean and sinks, but the air trapped inside creates a vacuum chamber, preventing water from entering and keeping passengers alive. Now, they must find a way to escape the sea. Brandon, Eva’s guard, takes charge and tries his best to keep the survivors alive.
How does Brandon die?
Brandon, who also happens to be an ex-Navy SEAL, is determined to keep everyone alive in the face of danger. As the water level rises in the broken plane, he relies on his special forces training to protect himself and others. Luckily, there was a scuba diving team on board, and despite being thrown out during the crash, they still had their gear.
Brandon decides to swim to the water-filled check-in luggage area to find a source of oxygen. He notices an oxygen cylinder in the aisle in front of Mardy, and he knows it could be a crucial lifeline. As Brandon makes his way into the check-in section, he spots a large hole in the luggage compartment. His search for the oxygen cylinder begins, hoping it can help with the dwindling oxygen levels.
Suddenly, a huge shark enters through the hole. Brandon tries to escape, but the shark grabs his leg. Despite his efforts to return to safety, the shark pulls him back, and tragically, Brandon loses his life.
What happens to the diver who comes to save the passengers?
The plane’s advanced tracking system alerts the airline about the crash, prompting them to send a team to investigate the area where the flight last appeared on RADAR. Upon arrival, the team spots a significant amount of floating debris from the crashed plane, confirming their suspicions. They dispatch divers to search the suspected location for any survivors.
Meanwhile, the surviving passengers are working together to maintain the oxygen levels and prevent water from entering the plane. When they look out of the plane, they see the diver approaching. Their spirits lift at the sight, and the diver also realizes that there are survivors on board. However, as the diver gets closer to the plane, sharks grab hold of their legs, dragging them away and ultimately causing their death.
How do the passenger come back to the water’s surface?
After losing hope following the diver’s death, the terrified passengers face another threat as sharks attempt to enter the plane, drawn by the scent of the dead. One shark manages to enter through a hole in the check-in vent, causing panic among the passengers.
Suddenly, Jed is pulled into the water by the shark. Kyle manages to pull Jed back into the passenger area, but not before he loses his leg in the struggle. Despite efforts to save him, Jed succumbs to his injuries and dies from blood loss and hypothermia.
With time running out, the remaining passengers must find a way out of the plane. Eva bravely enters the check-in vent to search for a scuba diving suit. Fortunately, there is no shark this time, and she successfully locates the suits.
However, there are only three suits for the five surviving passengers. After much deliberation, Mardy and Kyle volunteer to stay behind and sacrifice themselves. With heavy hearts, Rosa, Danilo, and Ava don the scuba suits and make their way to the ocean surface. Once above, they are finally rescued by patrolling forces, bringing an end to their harrowing ordeal.
It’s Jed not Jade lol. Jed is a masculine name and Jade is feminine.
