Nothing Uncovered – K-Drama Episode 8 Recap & Review

Zeus Revealed

Nothing Uncovered Episode 8 begins with Jung-won getting abducted by a man who turns out to be Cha Geum-sae. We see that Mo Hyung-taek told Geum-sae off for having his knife end up at Min-chul’s house.

Later, Tae-heon confronts Assemblyman Mo about his secretary Song Hyo-sung tailing Tae-heon in Mueon. He berates his secretary and pretends to not know anything about it. He also denies having any connection with Geum-sae.

Jung-won wakes up in Eun-sae’s new office, also the scene of her murder. She’s tied to a chair and Geum-sae tells her to confess to the murder. Woo-jae worries about Jung-won not having come home and even goes to Tae-heon, asking if he’s seen her but he hasn’t. Geum-sae continues to accuse Jung-won of killing both women. He then brings out the bag that Jung-won recognised at his house.

A flashback to the day of Jin Myung-sook’s murder shows Geum-sae staking out her house on Mr. Song’s orders. He notices someone else in her house and goes to investigate. Instead, he finds her stabbed and dying. Nearby is a bag full of cash, the same bag Geum-sae was referring to. He grabs the bag and runs off despite Myung-sook being alive.

In the morning, Tae-heon decides to locate Jung-won’s phone. It leads him to her car. Looking through CCTV footage, Tae-heon finds Geum-sae’s car and goes after him.

At the moment, Geum-sae is drunk but Jung-won has by now managed to free her hands by cutting through the tape with a corkscrew. She manages to free her legs and lock herself in the bathroom as Geum-sae chases her. Woo-jae also finds Jung-won’s car. He learns from his PI, who’s tracking Tae-heon, that the detective is headed to Eun-sae’s apartment.

Meanwhile, Tae-heon bursts through the bathroom door and attacks Jung-won. Tae-heon arrives just in time to pull him off. In his anger, Tae-heon chokes Geum-sae but Myung-soo pushes him off. Tae-heon then comforts Jung-won who’s pretty shaken. Woo-jae arrives as they’re leaving the building. They all head to the hospital where Jung-won is treated. Tae-heon interviews her about what happened while Woo-jae watches.

News of Geum-sae’s arrest reaches Seol Pan-ho, who is shooting with Mo Hyung-taek. He tells Assemblyman Mo to clean up his mess. Jung-won then remembers what she realised about Zeus. She tells Tae-heon that she thinks he was watching her. After he leaves, Jung-won tells Woo-jae to go home since he makes her uncomfortable. He says he’ll be at a nearby hotel instead.

During the police interview, Geum-sae shows Tae-heon the video he took at Jin Myung-sook’s house. Tae-heon asks him if he’s done all of this on Mo Hyung-taek’s orders. Later, Tae-heon visits Jung-won and tells her that the tip Zeus gave her that night was a lie. She was led to the murder scene on purpose.

He also says that Geum-sae has confessed to being ordered by Mo Hyung-taek. They agree that Jung-won should write an article about this to pull Mo Hyung-taek into the open. Since Jung-won is hungry, the two of them get ice pops. Before she goes back in, Tae-heon hugs her and apologises for getting her into this mess. He then openly admits he’s having feelings for her again.

The next day, Yoon-young visits Jung-won. But not out of concern — she shows Jung-won a picture of her bloody sleeve. Woo-jae walks in and says he threw that shirt away. When she threatens to show the picture to Tae-heon, Woo-jae threatens to reveal she illegally prescribed him propofol. This makes her leave.

Woo-jae tells Jung-won he got addicted when he was abroad. He was about to kill himself when he met Jung-won and managed to break free. She asks why he wasn’t able to sleep despite having sleeping pills. Woo-jae says it’s due to an accident in which a girl he liked passed away. But he doesn’t elaborate.

He then remembers something while helping zip up the back of Jung-won’s top. A flashback shows Jung-won and Woo-jae sometime in the past. They talk about work and Woo-jae helps untangle a necklace from her hair, the same one he bought her. He keeps the necklace on the table next to him.

At present, Jung-won gets a call. Her article about Mo Hyung-taek has caused the assemblyman to call for a press release. He admits to being Cha Eun-sae’s sponsor, along with other youngsters from broken families. He says he covered her tuition until she graduated, making him come across as a generous donor.

Tae-heon then gets a sketch of the person who was delivering Jin Myung-sook’s cash. He seems to recognise him. Meanwhile, Woo-jae wonders if Yoon-young took Jung-won’s necklace that day after he kept it in the table. He calls her and pretends to be sorry about how he spoke to her, inviting her for dinner instead.

Jung-won is welcomed back to work by her team. She notices Ba-reun isn’t there. Tae-heon arrives and shows her a sketch that resembles Ba-reun. This is the man who did the cash runs for Myung-sook. After he goes back to work, Jung-won gets Ba-reun’s home address and heads out. She finds the door unlocked and goes in to see a setup of complicated computers.

In the next room, the wall is filled with photos and clippings. They primarily consist of Mo Hyung-taek and the Bongto fire. Through the text messages on the desktop, Jung-won realises he is Zeus. Ba-reun enters and is shocked to see her. He runs away before she can say anything.

Woo-jae takes Yoon-young out for a nice dinner. They talk about how neither of them knows how to love properly. He carries a drunk Yoon-young home and then searches through her apartment. He finds a pen drive with photos of Jung-won, focusing on her accessories and clothes.

Among them is a photo of Jung-won’s necklace which ended up at the crime scene. Woo-jae believes Yoon-young set Jung-won up for the murder. She wakes up in the morning to find the pendrive gone and burst out into hysterical laughter. A moment later, we see her at the police station. She gives Tae-heon pictures of Jung-won at the crime scene, sitting right by Eun-sae’s body at the end of Nothing Uncovered Episode 8.

The Episode Review

Nothing Uncovered Episode 8 has Jung-won in a tough situation. Even when she gets herself out of it, she only finds the circle tightening around her towards the end of the episode. With both, Geum-sae and Yoon-young bent on framing Jung-won for the murder, things are looking difficult for Jung-won.

Even if Tae-heon believes her — honestly, she should have been upfront with him from the start but where’s the drama in that — the rest of the world may not.

While the romance between Tae-heon and Jung-won lacks any spark, Woo-jae and Yoon-young’s crazed antics keep the show’s tempo up and running. Woo-jae’s determination to stick with Jung-won is now explained as well, he clearly sees her as the means of staying off his addiction.

The reveal about Zeus also makes an interesting development to the plot, once again leading everything back to the Bongto fire. It’s all quite engaging but I am wondering how the show will sustain eight more episodes of this.
