My Dearest gets an Extension
My Dearest is a historical-romance K-drama set to sweep us off our feet! The show tells the story of Yu Gil Chae, a noblewoman living in Neunggun-ri during the Qing invasion. She is an arrogant woman who changes after the war. She meets a mysterious man called Lee Jang Hyun and falls for him during this time.
My Dearest Part 1 aired from August 4th to September 2nd before taking a one-month break. Part 1 was critically acclaimed, and many viewers hoped to see the relationship blossom between Jang-hyun and Gil-chae. For many, Part 1 ended with lots of hope that the couple will find their way to one another.
Part 2 started in October and has been warmly welcomed as viewers continue to get immersed in the moving love story of the lead couple. Part 2 allowed viewers to see the reunion of Jang-hyun and Gil-chae as the people of Joseon come to terms with the war’s end.
Following the show’s success, MBC (the original Network) has decided to extend the show. Earlier this week, MBC had stated that it is considering adding one more episode, bringing the total number of episodes of season 1 to 21.
On November 9th, MBC officially confirmed that the show will get an extension. The episode will focus on “the important scenes in Part 2 to enhance the quality of the production and story.”
MBC hopes the extension will help deepen the beautiful yet heartbreaking love story of Jang-hyun and Gil-chae while also focusing on the captives’ return.
Most viewers are excited that the show will get an extension and look forward to seeing how the story ends. Currently, My Dearest is the top-viewed show in its time slot and is considered one of the most popular K-dramas of the year.
Episode 18 is expected to air on Friday, November 10th, and Episode 19 will drop on Saturday, November 11th. With this said, the show is expected to end next weekend on November 18th. We will keep you updated once we know more!
