Movies and Shows coming to Shudder USA in September 2023

If you’re a horror fan, a Shudder subscription is a must. This streaming service offers a vast selection of horror and dark fantasy movies, as well as anthology TV shows and incredibly incisive documentaries that take a deep dive into the horror genre.

September 1

Perpetrator (2023)

On the eve of her 18th birthday, Jonny Baptiste, a reckless teen who has been sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hilde, experiences a radical metamorphosis after undergoing a family spell known as ‘Forevering.’

When several girls at her school go missing, the mythically feral Jonny goes after the ‘perpetrator.’

September 8

Blood Flower (2022)

Malaysian horror movie about a young apprentice healer who tries to suppress his supernatural abilities so he can fit in with his peers. But when a malicious spirit begins to wreak havoc around him, he is forced to use his special gifts to save his family and friends. 

September 15

Elevator Game (2023)

In this supernatural horror movie, a socially awkward teen named Ryan discovers his sister has disappeared after taking part in the titular game, an elevator-based ritual that apparently sends its participants to another dimension. To find his sibling, Ryan risks the most fearsome consequences imaginable by taking part in the game. 

September 22

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster (2023)

Inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, this fantasy horror stars Layla DeLeon Hayes (The Equalizer) as Vicaria, a brilliant teenager who tries to bring her dead brother back to life after he is violently murdered. What could possibly go wrong? 

September 25

The Djinn (2021)

After moving into a new apartment with his loving father, a mute boy named Dylan comes across an ancient collection of spells known as the Book of Shadows. Wanting to get his voice back, he uses these spells to call on a Djinn for help but soon regrets his actions when he becomes trapped in the apartment with this sinister trickster. 

September 29

Nightmare (2022)

When Mona moves into an apartment with her partner Robby, she has more to worry about than the noisy neighbors when she starts experiencing night terrors. As her issues spiral dangerously out of control, she starts to believe a mythical demon known as The Mare is trying to possess her unborn child.
