June 1

An American Werewolf In London (1981)

John Landis’ movie is arguably one of the scariest werewolf movies of all time. It’s also one of the funniest! It tells the story of an American student (David Naughton) whose best friend Jack (Griffin Dunne) is killed by a marauding wolfman on the Yorkshire Moors. It’s a terrible tragedy but if the two had listened to the less-than-friendly folk at The Slaughtered Lamb (a pub best avoided), they would have avoided the hairy beast that was wandering around the countryside looking for its next prey.

June 9

Brooklyn 45 (2023)

During the winter of 1945, a group of old friends gather together at a Brooklyn brownstone parlor to support their troubled host who is grieving the loss of his wife. Little do they know that they have been brought to their old pal’s home for a reason. He wants them to take part in a seance so that he can connect with the spirit of his lost loved one. What could possibly go wrong? Well, quite a lot actually as they all discover when the metaphorical ghosts of their past become all too literal. Anne Ramsay and Larry Fessenden star in this critically acclaimed period horror piece.

June 12

The Devil’s Candy (2015)

After a struggling painter and his family move into a huge old house in rural Texas, their dream home becomes the place of their nightmares when their lives are invaded by satanic forces. Ethan Embry, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Shiri Appleby are among the cast of this dark and suspenseful tale.

June 19

Baskin (2015)

What begins as a quiet evening on patrol becomes a night of terror for a group of police officers in this gruesome Turkish horror. When they are called in to provide backup for another squad at an abandoned building, they unwittingly stumble upon a satanic ritual. All hell breaks loose from then on when the men are subjected to all kinds of diabolical happenings.

June 23

Quicksand (2023)

A couple on the brink of divorce has more to worry about than their marriage woes after they get trapped in a pit of quicksand while hiking through a Colombian rainforest. A venomous snake adds to their troubles as they sink further into the ground. Allan Hawco and Caronlina Gaitin star as the estranged married couple who are forcibly brought together in this ‘battle against the elements’ survival thriller.

June 26

Home Movie (2008)

Adrian Pasdar and Cady McClain star in this found footage chiller about a married couple trying to live an idyllic life in the remote woods of upstate New York. They have the perfect house and the perfect marriage but their chances of happiness are ruined by their children who have a nasty habit of stapling frogs to trees! Are the kids evil? Or do they just have bad parents? Here’s hoping your home movies are nothing like those found within this underseen horror gem!

June 30

Children Of The Corn (2020)

Stephen King’s classic work of horror fiction has been adapted for the screen before, most notably in 1984 when Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton starred as the road-tripping couple who stumbled upon a devilish cult of children who were beholden to a demonic figure known He Who Walks Behind The Rows. That movie wasn’t as good as the short story on which it was based but it was far better than this latest adaptation which dilutes the scares with a confusing ecological message.
