July 2
Etheria Film Night 2023
Streaming on Shudder from July 2 – July 31.
The Etheria Film Festival showcases the latest short movie creations in the horror, science fiction, and fantasy genres by emerging female directors.
For the past few years, Shudder has been the go-to platform to see these short films and this year’s collection will also be given an airing on the screaming…erm… streaming service.
This year’s collection includes No Overnight Parking, an 8-minute chiller directed by Meg Swertlow, which is about a woman trapped in a parking lot with a masked killer, and Incomplete, a 10-minute spookfest by Zoey Martinson, which tells the tale of a man on house arrest in a supposedly haunted house.
You can read more about this year’s line-up of films here.

Quicksand (2023)
A couple on the brink of divorce has more to worry about than their marriage woes after they get trapped in a pit of quicksand while hiking through a Colombian rainforest. A venomous snake adds to their troubles as they sink further into the ground.
Allan Hawco and Caronlina Gaitin star as the estranged married couple who are forcibly brought together in this ‘battle against the elements’ survival thriller.
July 17
Contorted (2022)
In this South Korean chiller, a family move into a surprisingly inexpensive house and begin to experience nightmares (of a very real kind) almost immediately.
“This house is slightly contorted – it doesn’t stand straight,” says one of our protagonists but the home’s weird architecture is the least of their problems!
July 21
Sharksploitation (2023)
Just when you thought it was safe to renew your Shudder subscription comes a new documentary that shines a spotlight on the cinematic legacy of sharks on film. Featuring interviews with those who have made shark films, including Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), as well as critics, scholars, and conservationists, the doc aims to examine the cultural imprint that movies in the shark attack genre have left on audiences.
July 24
Death Game (1977)
A well-to-do businessman opens his door during a storm to find two young women on his doorstep claiming that their car has just broken down. He lets them in but soon regrets his act of charity when they tie him up and torture him after seducing him with their feminine wiles.
If the premise of this movie sounds familiar, it’s probably because you have seen the Keanu-Reeves starring remake Knock Knock, from director Eli Roth. This one stars Sondra Locke and Colleen Camp as the twisted seductresses and Seymour Cassel as their victim.
