Candy Cane Lane (2023)
Release Date: December 1
There are lots of festive movies landing on Amazon’s streaming service this Christmas, including this new comedy film starring Eddie Murphy as a man who is determined to win his neighbourhood’s annual Christmas decorating contest. The premise is similar to the Matthew Broderick/Danny DeVito comedy Deck The Halls but don’t expect another copycat movie. In this latest release, Murphy’s character calls on a mischievous elf for help, which backfires when the elf casts a spell to bring the 12 days of Christmas to life. Chaos ensues!
Merry Little Batman (2023)
Release Date: December 8
When Damian Wayne finds himself home alone in Wayne Manor on Christmas Eve, he must transform himself into ‘Little Batman’ to protect his home and Gotham City from supervillains.
Your Christmas Or Mine 2 (2023)
Release Date: December 8
After inadvertently swapping Christmases in Your Christmas Or Mine, Hayley (Cora Kirk) and James (Asa Butterfield) are somehow involved in another festive mix-up in this sequel movie.
Here’s the synopsis:
“In the sequel, Lord Humphrey invites the Taylors to Christmas in a luxury ski resort in the French Alps so they can meet his new American girlfriend. But Hayley’s dad Geoff insists on handling his family’s side of the booking and something got lost in translation. After a mix-up with transport at the airport, the two families end up at each other’s accommodation on different sides of a valley and opposite ends of the Tripadvisor ratings scale.
They’ve swapped Christmas – again. Can Hayley and James’ relationship survive another turbulent family Christmas or has their future together gone off-piste?!” (source)
Asteroid City (2023)
Release Date: December 12
Wes Anderson’s delightful movie follows a grieving father who travels with his tech-obsessed family to Asteroid City to compete in a junior stargazing event. Jason Schwartzman, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, and Edward Norton are among the star-studded cast of this modest charmer.
Reacher – Season 2
Release Date: December 15
This second season is based on the 11th Jack Reacher novel, Bad Luck and Trouble. Quite why the show’s creators decided to skip over the earlier books in the series, we don’t know. But if you enjoyed the last season of Reacher, you’ll probably want to tune in regardless of the change in chronology.
Here’s the Season 2 synopsis:
“Reacher Season Two begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receives a coded message that the members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one.
Pulled from his drifter lifestyle, Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates turned chosen family to investigate, including Frances Neagley (Maria Sten); Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), a forensic accountant for whom Reacher has long had a soft spot; and fast-talking, switchblade-wielding family man David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos).
Together, they begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn, and brings about questions of who has betrayed them—and who will die next.” (source)
The Flash
Release Date: December 25
The DCEU as we know is about to change due to an upcoming reboot of the DC Universe from James Gunn and Peter Safran after the release of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom in December. Will they be bringing Ezra Miller’s Flash character into the fold? Or Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, who makes an appearance in this multiversal movie? We don’t know. So, for now, sit back and enjoy what could be the last time we see the Scarlet Speedster in his current incarnation.
