There are some great new shows on Amazon Prime Video this month, including The Power, an electrifying sci-fi series based on a popular novel, and Daisy Jones & The Six, a musical drama about the rise to fame of a fictional rock band.

1st March
Sicario 2: Soldado (2018)
The war against drugs continues in this sequel to the highly acclaimed Sicario. This time around, CIA agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) enlists a mysterious operative to investigate a Mexican drug cartel that has been smuggling terrorists into the US. Benicio Del Toro also stars in this occasionally exciting thriller that isn’t quite as involving as the first film.
3rd March
Daisy Jones & The Six (Limited Series)
Based on the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, this 10-episode miniseries, shot in the style of a documentary, tells the fictional tale of a 1970s rock band who rise up from the LA music scene to become one of the most successful music groups in the world. Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, and Sam Claflin star in this adaptation of the best-selling novel that was supposedly inspired by Fleetwood Mac.
Son Of A Mother
Brazilian actor Paulo Gustavo, who sadly passed away in 2021, is the subject of this emotional documentary that features never-before-seen footage of the artist’s last tour.
The Pimp – No F***ing Fairytale: Season 1
Inspired by true events, this German drama tells of the rise of the Nutella Gang, the most famous pimp cartel in Hamburg’s legendary entertainment district Reeperbahn in the 1980s. As this follows the harrowing reality of the sex industry and the mistreatment of women by their customers, viewer discretion is advised.
16th March
Class Of ’07: Season 1
When a devastating tidal wave interrupts the celebrations taking place at a 10-year high school reunion, a group of former classmates have to battle against the odds to survive this apocalyptic disaster. Emily Browning, Megan Smart, and Caitlin Stacey are among the cast of this new series that surprisingly is more of a comedy than a disaster thriller.
17th March
Swarm: Season 1
This new horror series stars Dominique Fishback as Dre, a fan of a Beyonce-like singer whose obsession with the celebrity takes a very dark turn. Atlanta creator Donald Glover is behind this show which is apparently inspired by the Martin Scorsese movie The King of Comedy, which starred Robert DeNiro as a similarly troubled individual who had a dangerous obsession with a comedian (played by Jerry Lewis).
Angel Flight: Season 1
Japanese drama series about a company named Angel Hearse that specialises in transporting the deceased back to their homelands and final resting places.
31st March
The Power: Season 1
Based on the 2016 novel by Naomi Alderman, this new sci-fi series introduces us to a world where teenage girls suddenly develop the ability to electrocute anybody with a single touch of their hands. Not only can they use their newfound ability for destructive purposes but they can awaken this power in older women too. Consequently, the world undergoes a massive shift in power dynamics when women become the dominant force in society. Toni Colette, John Leguizamo, and Booksmart’s Nico Hiraga are among the cast of this intriguing new show.
