Movies And Shows Coming To Amazon Prime Video UK In April 2023

Guy Ritchie’s latest movie premieres on Prime Video this month and so too does a brand new spy series from The Gray Man directors, The Russo Brothers.

4th April

Redefined: J.R. Smith

This 4-part docuseries follows retired American basketball player J.R. Smith as he tries to redefine his life with a college education and a new athletic passion – golf!

7th April

Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre (2023)

Guy Ritchie’s latest movie stars Jason Statham as Orson Fortune, a super spy who embarks on a globe-trotting undercover mission to save the world.  Hugh Grant is the villainous arms dealer who is the catalyst for this mission and also in the cast is Aubrey Plaza as a tech genius who is part of Fortune’s expert team.

Judy Blume Forever (2023)

Judy Blume’s trail-blazing YA novels changed the ways millions of adolescents understood themselves due to her candid approach to such topics as puberty, masturbation, and sex. This documentary profiles the author’s life and career, with celebrity cameos (including Molly Ringwald and Lena Dunham) who talk about their experiences of Blume’s work.

Jubilee: Season 1

This Indian period drama is set in the 1940-1950s era of the Bombay film industry. Amazon has provided this synopsis: “In a newly independent India, a studio boss, his movie-star wife, a trusted aide, a nautch girl and a refugee will have their paths cross in their pursuit of stardom and riches.”

14th April

On A Wing And A Prayer (2023)

Dennis Quaid stars in this faith-based movie as a man who has to rely on his limited skills as a pilot and his belief in God when he is called upon to land a plane that he is a passenger on.

18th April

Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits

Alex Borstein, 3-time Emmy winner and one of the stars of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, headlines this music-infused standup special that takes place at The Wolford Theatre, the fictional burlesque club that is featured in the aforementioned TV show.

21st April

Dead Ringers: Season 1

Based on the 1988 psychological drama by David Cronenberg, this reimagining of that movie stars Rachel Weisz in the dual roles of Doctors Elliot and Beverly Mantle, characters previously played by Jeremy Irons.

According to the official synopsis: “Elliot and Beverly Mantle (are) twins who share everything: Drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes—including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics—in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s health care to the forefront.”

Emmy-nominated writer Alice Birch (Normal People; The Wonder) has penned the scripts for the series.

Citadel: Season 1

The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame) are the producers of this big-budgeted spy series that stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as two former special agents who have been living separate lives after the destruction of Citadel, the agency they worked for. When they are reunited by a man named Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), they embark on a mission to bring down Manticore, the rival agency that destroyed Citadel.
