Movies And Shows Coming To Netflix UK In April 2023

There is much to look forward to on Netflix this month, including the second season of Sweet Tooth, a new documentary about singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi, and the epic finale to The Last Kingdom.

1st April

Pressure Point (2021)

Also known as Heart of Champions, this inspirational sports drama stars Michael Shannon as a former army vet who is hired to coach a dysfunctional rowing team at an Ivy League college.

The Deep House (2021)

In this French supernatural horror film, two YouTubers travel to France and discover an old house that is submerged beneath a lake. When they enter the house, which has been perfectly preserved, they inadvertently awaken a dark spirit.

2nd April

War Sailor (Limited Series)

This Norwegian drama tells the story of two friends who are working on their merchant ship in the Atlantic Ocean when World War 2 breaks out. They suddenly find themselves on the front line, without any weapons, when their ship is targeted by a German submarine.

5th April

Moonage Daydream (2022)

From visionary documentary filmmaker Brett Morgen comes this cinematic odyssey about another visionary, music legend David Bowie. This biography of the late singer incorporates live concert footage, interviews with Bowie, and unreleased footage from the star’s personal archives.

Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now

This intimate documentary takes us behind the curtain of Lewis Capaldi’s life and tells the journey of his rise to fame from viral sensation to Grammy-nominated pop star.

6th April

Monster Hunter (2020)

Milla Jovovich and martial arts superstar Tony Jaa star in this adaptation of the popular Capcom video game. It tells the story of Captain Artemis (Jovovich) and her team of loyal soldiers who are forced into a battle for survival against a series of deadly monsters when they are transported to a strange new world. Paul W.S. Anderson, the director of the lame Resident Evil movies is behind this equally-lame adaptation.

Beef: Season 1

Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe) star in this dark comedy about two people who enter into a battle of wills after their lives collide in a road rage incident.

7th April

Chupa (2023)

A young boy from Kansas City gets the surprise of his life when he comes to face to face with a baby chupacabra during a trip to Mexico to visit his family. It’s not long before he is whisked away on an adventure with his new furry friend when they are forced to evade a pair of scientists who want to use the once-mythical creature for their own nefarious purposes.

Transatlantic (Limited Series)

Gillian Jacobs (Community) and Cory Micheal Smith (Gotham) star in this true story about an American heiress and a journalist who risked their lives to help artists, writers and other refugees flee Nazi-occupied France during World War 2.

8th April

Hunger (2023)

Thai drama about a talented young cook who is pushed to her limits when she leaves her family’s noodle restaurant business behind to work under a ruthless and infamous chef.

13th April

Nobody (2021)

Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) stars as Hutch Mansell, a seemingly placid family man who reveals his true character (and his fighting skills) when he is led into a bloody war against a gang boss after two thieves break into his home. Directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry), this is one of the best action films of recent years.

Florida Man (Limited Series)

Edgar Ramirez stars as Mike Walker, a disgraced ex-cop who returns to his home state of Florida to find a mobster’s runaway girlfriend, a seemingly simple gig that turns into a wild and deadly treasure hunt.

Obsession (Limited Series)

Based on the novel by Josephine Hart, this erotically-charged thriller stars Richard Armitage as a London surgeon who enters into an illicit relationship with his son’s fiancee (Charlie Murphy).

14th April

Seven Kings Must Die (2023)

Fans of The Last Kingdom, the BBC/Netflix series based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories series of novels, will want to tune into this feature-length follow-up which finishes the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, the Saxon warrior who is fighting to reclaim his ancestral home.

Phenomena (2023)

Three middle-aged women investigate paranormal events at a less-than-ordinary antiques shop in this Spanish comedy.

18th April

Longest Third Date

At the beginning of 2020, Matt Robertson and Khani Le went on a first date after meeting through a dating app. A second date followed and when sparks began to fly, they spontaneously took a flight to Costa Rica for their third date. What was supposed to be a short stay became an extended trip when the world shut down because of COVID-19. Did their relationship last this ultimate test in compatibility? This documentary, which uses interviews and phone footage to tell their story, will give us the answer.

19th April

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (2023)

Many of the original cast members of the Power Rangers TV series, including David Yost (Blue Ranger Billy Cranston) and Walter E. Jones (first Black Ranger Zack Taylor) return for this 30th-anniversary special which sees our beloved heroes reunite to go up against Rita Repulsa (Barbara Goodson).

20th April

The Diplomat: Season 1

Keri Russell (The Americans), stars in this 8-part political thriller about a career diplomat who has to diffuse international crises and survive her marriage to a fellow diplomat when she lands a new role as the ambassador of London.

26th April

The Good Bad Mother: Season 1

In this new K-comedy drama, a prominent prosecutor suffers from amnesia in an unexpected accident and becomes a 7-year-old again. After losing his memories, he goes back to living with his “bad mother” who he previously turned away from when he became successful in his career.

27th April

A Tourist’s Guide To Love (2023)

Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That) stars in this romantic drama about a travel executive who finds adventure and romance with her expat tour guide when she journeys to Vietnam for an assignment.

Sweet Tooth: Season 2

Based on the DC comic book of the same name comes this second season of the dystopian drama about a 10-year-old human-animal hybrid named Gus who is doing all that he can to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Season 2 will pick up where the first season left off, with Gus held prisoner with a band of fellow hybrids by General Abbott who wants to experiment on the children to find a cure for the sickness that has devastated humanity.
