Movies And Shows Coming To HBO Max In May 2023

HBO’s streaming service is getting a rebrand this May. From the 23rd of the month, HBO will be eliminated from the name and the service will simply be known as Max. We don’t know what content is arriving on Max after this date but we do have information on the titles that are coming to HBO Max before the transformation takes place.

White House Plumbers – Limited Series (Premiere)

When Richard Nixon’s shower has a leak, he calls on the trusted White House plumbers to fix the issue. I’m joking, of course.

This limited series tells the true story of President Nixon’s political operatives E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy (also known as the White House Plumbers) who inadvertently caused the Watergate Scandal while trying to ‘fix the leaks’ of classified Pentagon documents to the Press. Justin Theroux and Woody Harrelson star as the misguided government officials.

1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed

In this timely exploration of identity, filmmaker and comedian W. Kamau Bell has conversations with multiracial kids and their families from the San Francisco Bay Area as he explores the challenges and joys of growing up mixed-race.

Unicorn: Warriors Eternal – Season 1

From Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky comes this new animated series about a team of ancient heroes (known as Unicorn) who are tasked with protecting the world from an ominous force when they are re-awakened in the bodies of teenagers.

Legion Of Super-Heroes (2023)

Before Supergirl makes her big screen debut in the new Flash movie, you can catch the superheroine in this animated movie that sees her go up against a mysterious group called the Dark Circle who are searching for a powerful weapon at the Legion Academy.

Two Sides Of The Abyss – Limited Series

6-part German miniseries about police officer Luise Berg (Anne Ratte-Polle) who heads for an unavoidable catastrophe after her daughter’s murderer is released early from prison. Not a lot is known about this series at present but expect the boundaries of law and justice to become blurred as the story of this psychological drama develops.

Land Of Gold (2022)

When truck driver Kiran finds a young Mexican-American girl hiding in his shipping container, he embarks on a cross-country journey to return the child to her family. According to some reviewers, this is a quiet gem of a movie that might well break your heart!

May 16 

Angel City – Limited Series

This 3-part docuseries tells the inspirational story Of Angel City Football Club’s first season In The National Women’s Soccer League. According to the press release, the series “reveals the passion and grit needed to build a franchise from scratch and blaze a bold trail in the world of professional sports.”

Spy/Master – Season 1

Set during the height of the Cold War, this new thriller series from Temple director Christopher Smith follows a KGB agent who, after going undercover as a high-ranking officer in Romania’s secret service, decides to defect before his cover is blown.

May 20

Love To Love You, Donna Summer

This new documentary explores the life and career of the ‘Queen of Disco’ using photographs, archival footage and home movies to tell her story.
