The Force is clearly strong with Disney+ this month as Obi-Wan Kenobi finally lands on the streaming service. There’s also the opportunity to see Amy Schumer’s new comedy-drama series, Life & Beth, and for the kids, there’s Sneakerella, a music-driven incarnation of the classic Cinderella story. There’s all this and more so check out the highlights below and keep scrolling for a list of the other titles that will be popping up this month.

Babylon AD (2008)
Far from being Vin Diesel’s best film but if you enjoy trashily bad sci-fi movies, this won’t be a complete waste of your time. Michelle Yeoh, who is currently starring in the multi-verse comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once, also stars in this futuristic effort about a mercenary escorting a woman from America to Russia.
Me, Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)
Get your handkerchiefs ready as this is a touching comedy-drama about Greg, a socially awkward teenager, who is encouraged by his mum to spend time with Rachel, a young teen who has leukaemia. This is less maudlin than you might expect so while you can expect a few tears, you will have plenty of reason to smile while watching this heartfelt movie too.

How I Met Your Father: Season 1
Picking up 8 months after the finale of How I Met Your Mother, this is a gender-reversed spin-off of that classic comedy series. The whole season is dropping all at once so this gives you ample chance to binge-watch it if you think it’s as good as the previous show.
Oussekine
On the 5th December 1986, French-Algerian student Malik Oussekine was beaten to death by Paris police. This four-episode miniseries chronicles his family’s struggle to get justice and expose the truth. Malik’s story is not unfamiliar as many people have been subjected to police violence. However, more dramas of this sort need to be made as those responsible for such terrible acts need to be held accountable.
The Quest: Season 1
If you remember and enjoyed the decades-old children’s TV series Knightmare which featured a group of youngsters trying to fight their way through Dungeons and Dragons-type scenarios, then you might get something from this. This reality-competition series which throws a bunch of teens into the fictional world of Everealm is a lot more high-tech than that fantasy show, however, so this isn’t likely to make you cringe when you look at the fantastical special effects.
A Wilderness of Error
This is a 5-part documentary series about Green Beret Army surgeon Jeffrey MacDonald who was convicted of the murder of his wife and children. Was he guilty? It’s a complicated case but over the course of this limited series, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Marc Smerling does what he can to find out the truth.

Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017)
Focussing less on Winnie the Pooh and more about the boy who inspired the character of Christopher Robin, this is a moving story about his childhood and the relationship he had with his father, Pooh author Alan Alexander Milne. Domhall Gleeson stars in this touching biographical film.
Sneakerella (2022)
Do we really need another version of the age-old Cinderella story? Probably not but this time we get a gender-switched tale about an aspiring sneaker designer from New York who manages to meet his Princess Charming after a chance encounter with her father. Check out the trailer if you would like to know more.

Knights of Castelcorvo: Season 1
Four kids have to solve puzzles and face their worst fears as they try to fight the evil that exists in the village of Castelcorvo in this 2020 Italian fantasy series. This is probably one for the younger members of your family, especially if they enjoy stories about knights and magical beings.
Life & Beth: Season 1
This brand new comedy series stars Amy Schumer as a Manhattan-based woman who seemingly has everything together. But while her life might look good on paper, she’s not as fulfilled as she wants to be. Such is the premise of this series that takes a trip down Beth’s memory lane as she tries to find her true self. Admittedly, it doesn’t sound very funny but the official trailer promises something that is more comical than reflective.
20th May
The Valet (2022)
A fish-out-of-water comedy about a movie star who enlists a parking valet to pose as her lover. Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not) and Eugenio Derbez (Overboard) star in this remake of a 2006 French film that proved to be a hit with critics. The jury is still out on whether this movie will be as good as that one but as Weaving has already proven her comedic talents, this might be okay.
27th May
Daredevil (2003)
Before Ben Affleck was Batman he was blind superhero Daredevil! The movie was poorly received at the time although the DVD director’s cut did improve on the flawed original. I don’t know which version of Daredevil we will get here but even if it’s the theatrical version, we will still get a better movie than Elektra, which was the spin-off of this substandard comic book flick.
JFK (1991)
According to history, Lee Harvey Oswald was the person who killed President John F. Kennedy on the 22nd of November 1963. In Oliver Stone’s movie, however, New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) concludes that there is more to the assassination than meets the eye. We will probably never know the full truth but Stone’s controversial film throws up some interesting questions.
Jumper (2008)
Doug Liman’s sci-fi adventure about a teenager with teleportation abilities really should have been better. There was scope here for an epic globe-trotting (teleporting) adventure but the final product was a bit of a damp squib. It’s not unenjoyable though so this story of an empowered boy who finds himself in the middle of an ancient war does offer some entertainment value.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Season 1 Episodes 1-2
If you’re a Star Wars fan, this is likely to be the show that you are most looking forward to this month. Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a story that takes place ten years after Star Wars: Revenge Of the Sith. Hayden Christensen (who also stars in this month’s Jumper) reprises his role of Annakin Skywalker too, although as you will know already, he is no longer the moody teenager he once was! After the success of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, there is no reason to believe this will be anything less than excellent. In short, the Force should be strong with this one, assuming there is no talk of Midichloriants and a cameo from Jar Jar Binks!
31st May
Pistol
Based on the memoir of Steve Jones, the legendary guitarist from the Sex Pistols, this limited series from Danny Boyle promises to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane for any fan of rock and roll in the ’60s. Toby Wallace (Babyteeth) stars as Jones, alongside Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Sid Vicious and Anson Boon (Crawl) as Johnny Rotten.
