Last Night In Soho (2021)
In Edgar Wright’s time-bending thriller, Eloise (Thomasin McKenzie), an aspiring young fashion designer, finds herself transported back in time to 1960s London where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer named Sandie (Anya Taylor-Joy) who draws her into a dark and dangerous mystery.
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)
Ryan Reynolds voices the titular Pokemon in an adventure that sees the wise-cracking sleuth teaming up with the son (Justice Smith) of his former partner. As they chase clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City, many other Pokemon make an appearance, including Mewtwo, Psyduck, and Jigglypuff.
Shaft (2019)
Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as the supercool private eye from the 2000 movie. That movie was an updated version of the 1971 movie with Richard Roundtree (also making an appearance here) in the lead role that kickstarted the franchise.
Jackson is the best thing about this sequel that sees our hero provide the only education his son needs when Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher) calls on him for help after the untimely death of his friend.
Unfriended: Dark Web (2018)
When a young man finds a hidden cache of files on a laptop that may have been stolen, he and his friends are thrust into the world of the dark web. They soon discover the previous owner has been watching their every move and now he wants his laptop back!
This sequel to Unfriended is pretty good and actually quite topical considering the real-life hackers and snoopers that lurk behind their screens, trying to gain entry into our lives!
October 20
Bosch Legacy – Season 2
Bosch is back in business in this spin-off to the highly-rated police procedural that debuted on Prime Video back in 2014.
Here’s the official synopsis for Season 2:
“Bosch and Chandler work together to seek out a killer who just might find them first. As a result of being kidnapped by a masked assailant, Maddie Bosch’s law enforcement career hangs in the balance. While they hunt for Maddie, the FBI scrutinizes Carl Rogers’ murder and places Bosch and Chandler under suspicion.”
October 29
Die in a Gunfight (2021)
In this New York-set tale, a young guy falls for the daughter of his father’s nemesis. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot, as you might imagine from a tale that is seemingly based on the classic Romeo and Juliet story.
Unfortunately, this crime comedy starring Diego Boneta and Alexandra Daddario was gunned down by critics upon its release, as they were unimpressed by the poorly developed characters, cheap action sequences, and contrived storyline.
Smelliville (2021)
Also known as The Ogglies, this animated tale tells the story of the Oggly family who make a new home for themselves at the municipal rubbish dump of Smelliville.
