June 1

The Donor Party (2023)

When Jaclyn tells her friends she wants a baby, they find a possible way to get her pregnant. How? Well, rather than encouraging her to explore her surrogacy or adoption options, they hatch a plan to get her pregnant at one of their friend’s birthday parties!

Marlin Akerman, Jerry O’ Connell and Rob Cordrroy are among the cast of this morally dubious comedy.

Blue Ruin (2013)

In this compelling thriller, Macon Blair stars as a man out for revenge against his parent’s killer. When this amateur assassin completes his vengeful task, the family of the man he killed vows to take revenge on him.

Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier directs this dark and suspenseful low-budget gem.

Gone Baby Gone (2007)

When a 4-year-old girl is kidnapped and the local police make little headway with their investigation, the child’s Aunt hires two private detectives to search for the youngster, despite their lack of experience in this kind of case.

Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan both give excellent performances in this powerful thriller from debuting director Ben Affleck.

Hot Pursuit (2015)

Reese Witherspoon and Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara star in this crazy action comedy about an uptight by-the-book police officer and the widow of a drug boss who are on the run from crooked cops and murderous gunmen.

Laughs are in very short supply in this predictable movie that isn’t worth pursuing!

Still Alice (2015)

Julianne Moore stars in this harrowing drama as a linguistics professor whose life and career are upended when she starts to become forgetful. After a visit to her doctor, the reason for her memory loss is diagnosed: she has Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease!

Moore gives one of her greatest performances as the woman who uses the remaining time she has to make her life worthwhile.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)

When Lou (Rob Corrdry) is shot in the groin, his best pals Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) drag him to the hot tub time machine so they can travel to the past and change what happened. Unfortunately, they end up 10 years in the future where all kinds of complicated timey-wimey antics ensue.

A talented comic cast does what they can with the material they have been given but this is a pale imitation of the first movie that was smarter and funnier than this disappointing effort.

Carrie (2013)

In this third adaptation of Stephen King’s debut novel, Chloë Grace Moretz takes on the role of shy outcast Carrie White who unleashes telekinetic terror on the people at her high school who made her life a misery.

This isn’t quite as good as Brian De Palma’s 1976 movie but Moretz delivers a strong performance as the girl who is finally pushed over the edge when events take a bloody turn at her school prom.

Bad Girls – Seasons 1-8

Every episode of this hard-hitting British drama about the staff and inmates of a women’s prison is available to watch from today. Amanda Barrie, Stephanie Beacham, and Eastenders actress Linda Henry are just a few of the faces you will recognise in this series that ran from 1999-2006.

Tribunal Justice: Season 1

This new series, which has been created by Judge Judy Sheindlin, features a panel of three judges who will be laying down the law to the luckless individuals who enter their courtroom.

Don’t expect the humour of Jury Duty, another recent courtroom show on Freevee that, unbeknownst to one clueless individual, was entirely fictional. This show features real-life cases and as such, it is guaranteed to be a compelling watch, especially for any fan of the long-running courtroom series, Judge Judy!

June 15

Vanquish (2021)

Director George Gallo has made some decent movies over the years, including Nicolas Cage comedy Trapped In Paradise and Hollywood satire The Comeback Trail. He also wrote the screenplay for Midnight Run, one of the funniest action comedies of the 1980s. Unfortunately, Gallo has also churned out a lot of terrible movies, and Vanquish is one of his worst.

Ruby Rose stars as a drugs courier who is trying to put the past behind her but when her daughter is kidnapped by Morgan Freeman’s retired cop, she is forced to carry out one last deal. The premise is pretty good but the acting, writing, and directing are all woeful, so this movie can only be recommended to lovers of bad movies.

June 22

Heroes Of The Golden Masks (2023)

This new animated movie may appeal to you if you saw the recent Disney+ series American Born Chinese. The story isn’t the same – this film tells the tale of an American orphan who is magically transported to an ancient Chinese kingdom and meets a bunch of superheroes – but in its mix of American and Chinese cultures, there is a vague similarity.

June 28

The Artifice Girl (2022)

Tatum Matthews and Lance Henrickson star in this riveting thriller about a revolutionary new computer programme that has been designed to trap online predators. This software is an excellent idea in theory but things start to go awry when the AI starts to advance beyond its original purpose.
